Job summary

Pushpalata D Y Patil Hospital in Ambi, Talegaon, Pune seeks an Intensivist to lead specialised ICU care for critically ill patients. You will manage ventilation, life-support, and complex treatments, coordinating with a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires MBBS with MD/DNB in relevant fields; DM/FNB in Critical Care is preferred. Experience in ICU settings and adherence to safety and quality standards are expected.

Qualifications

• MBBS with MD/DNB in Anaesthesiology, General Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, or an equivalent recognised postgraduate qualification relevant to critical care.
• DM/FNB in Critical Care Medicine or IDCCM qualification preferred, subject to applicable credentialing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage critically ill patients requiring intensive monitoring, ventilatory support, and advanced life-support interventions.
• Diagnose and treat medical emergencies, sepsis, shock, respiratory failure, and multi-organ dysfunction.
• Monitor patient progress and develop, implement, and review individualised treatment plans.
• Perform and supervise critical care procedures, including endotracheal intubation, central venous catheterisation, and arterial line insertion, as clinically indicated.
• Coordinate with consultants, surgeons, emergency physicians, nursing teams, and other healthcare professionals.
• Ensure appropriate use of ventilators, monitoring equipment, and critical care resources.
• Maintain accurate medical records, treatment charts, and clinical documentation.
• Follow hospital protocols, infection control practices, patient safety standards, and applicable NABH requirements.
• Participate in clinical audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, emergency response, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Counsel patients’ relatives regarding clinical condition, treatment plans, prognosis, and progress, as appropriate.
