Job summary

LyondellBasell Mumbai engineering office seeks an experienced Instrumentation & Controls Engineer for a technical contract role. You will provide I&C engineering services from the Mumbai office to NA/EAI sites, covering design, documentation, and field installations.

The candidate should have 10–15 years in instrument design within chemical/petrochemical industries, be proficient in PLC/SIS/DCS, and capable of handling vendor documentation and bid evaluations.

Qualifications

• Degree in Instrumentation & Control Engineering from reputed institutes.
• Experience of 10–15 years in instrument design, with domestic and international exposure.
• Experience in Refining and Petrochemical industries in instrument design, project execution or maintenance.
• Experience in complete lifecycle of instrumentation for greenfield/brownfield projects in chemical/manufacturing sectors.
• Hands-on experience with PLC/SIS/DCS hardware and software and developing process control narratives.

Responsibilities

• Be part of the complete lifecycle of instrumentation discipline for projects in chemical/manufacturing sectors.
• Design, sizing, selection, and review of instrument datasheets and MRs for field and laboratory instruments.
• Prepare and review IO lists, JB drawings, ILD, process hook-ups, pneumatic hook-ups, etc.
• Conduct technical bid evaluations for instrument scope items and generate purchase orders with documentation.
• Review vendor and package vendor documentation; ensure conformance to standards and requirements.
• Design and review instrumentation field engineering, wiring, and control room installations.
• Develop DCS graphics and maintain control system configurations; support retrofits as needed.
• Ensure compliance with quality systems and familiar with API/ISA/IEC/ISO standards (advantage).

Job description

The role is a technical contract position for the engineering office at Mumbai. The person would be involved in providing Instrument & Controls Engineering services from Mumbai office to NA/EAI Sites.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Education:

Degree in Instrumentation & Control Engineering from reputed Institutes.

Optional Certification : TUV FS Eng Certification (optional)

Work Experience:

10 to 15 years of design experience (Domestic and International) with reputed Engineering company with hands on experience. Preferably should have also worked in Refining and Petrochemical industry in Instrument design engineering / Project Execution / Maintenance.

• - Should be part of the complete life cycle of the Instrumentation discipline for Green field or brown field project from start to end for chemical / manufacturing industry.
• - Instrument Sizing, Selection, Generation & Review of Specifications for Field & Laboratory Instruments.
• - Preparation & Review of Instrument Datasheets.
• - Preparation & Review of Instrument Material Requisitions.
• - Preparation & Review of Engineering Deliverables as part of the Project includes IO list, JB Drawings, ILD preparation, Process Hookups, Pneumatic Hookups etc.
• - Carry out technical bid Evaluations for Instrument scope related items.
• - Generation of Purchase orders for Instrumentation items with necessary supporting documentation.
• - Review of Vendor Documentation.
• - Review of Package Vendor Documentation.
• - Design, Specification and use of all measuring elements.
• - Design, Review of Instrumentation field engineering.
• - Hands on experience in hardware as well as software design for PLC/SIS/DCS in chemical / Petrochemical Industry.
• - Shall have ability to do reverse engineering to generate Process Control Narratives and Cause & Effect Diagrams from PLC/SIS/FGS/DCS logics.
• - Hands on experience with Development of the DCS Graphics
• - Design, Review of vibration monitoring, electronic governor controls, & gas detection systems.
• - Design, Review of Control room installations
• - Thorough knowledge of control systems in Hydrocarbon plants.
• - Knowledge of quality system

It will be an added advantage to have

• a. In depth knowledge of INTOOLs.
• b. Knowledge of Standards (e.g. API, ISA,IEC,ISO etc).
• c. Some familiarity with retrofit designs.
• d. Knowledge of maintenance activities.
