Business Objective
To improve the stability and resilience of the platform by establishing more standardized vulnerability-management and remediation processes.
The team is building out an Ansible-based toolset for enterprise-wide patching, with the intention of increasing automation and consistency across the environment.
The supporting JD confirms that the broader ICRE remit covers infrastructure reliability, security, resilience, vulnerability management, patch remediation and infrastructure automation across a 100% AWS-based estate.
Role Expectations
- Join the existing team and become familiar with existing environment and processes.
- Take ownership of patching volumes and vulnerability remediation activities.
- Work as hands-on engineers rather than in managerial or coordination roles.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of Ansible playbooks and automation.
- Gradually expand their remit as they gain experience and understanding of the environment.
- Become part of the core foundation team, with patching as the immediate strategic focus.
- The role is therefore expected to grow over time rather than remain limited to routine patch execution.
- To develop and maintain Ansible AWX job templates, playbooks, roles, inventories and workflows to automate patching and remediation at scale.
Candidate Profile Skills
- Hands-on engineers with approximately 58 years of experience.
- Priority Skills
- Patching experience is a must-have. Candidates who can demonstrate actual enterprise patching and vulnerability-remediation experience.
- The preferred technology stack includes:
- Patching / Vulnerability Remediation Must Have
- Ansible / Ansible AWX
- AWS
- Terraform / Infrastructure-as-Code
- Linux and/or Windows infrastructure
- Automation and scripting
- Ability to participate effectively in technical stand-ups and Agile ceremonies
- The detailed role also identifies Python, Bash, PowerShell, APIs, JSON/YAML, Git and CI/CD as relevant supporting automation skills.
- Candidates need to demonstrate real-life situations where they have personally performed patching, vulnerability remediation and infrastructure automation.
