The Kids Clinic in India is seeking a Clinical Nurse Instructor + Infection Control Nurse (CNI+ICN) to lead nursing education and infection prevention initiatives across the unit.

The role requires BSc./ MSc. Nursing with 3–5+ years relevant experience; you will supervise clinical care, assess competencies, develop training calendars, and implement evidence-based practices to ensure the highest standard of patient and staff safety.

Responsibilities

• Instructs, demonstrates and supervises staffs in principles and application of maternity and neonatal nursing as per the Clinical Care Levels.
• Assesses the staffs specialty-specific procedural competencies.
• Adminsiters OSCE and evaluates staffs progress, and maintains records of classroom and clinical experience.
• Demonstrates a balance between theoretical knowledge and clinical application.
• Provides expertise, developing prevention strategies and protocols to improve patient and employees outcomes.
• Leads Nurses to think outside the box, to try new ways through evidenced based practice to enhance and improve patient outcomes.

DESIGNATION: CLINICAL NURSE INSTRUCTOR + INFECTION CONTROL NURSE (CNI+ICN)

DEPARTMENT : NURSING

QUALIFICATION : BSc./ MSc. NURSING

EXPERIENCE : 5 or 3 years and above (respectively)

CNI+ICN serves as a clinical expert in the field of nursing and infection control to the staffs, consultants, patient and their caregivers. The ICN+CNI should accomplish strategic and tactical aims within the domains of the department. Fosters multidisciplinary relationships and linkages that support implementation of innovations; leads interdisciplinary groups in implementing patient care programs across the care continuum.

Position Responsibilities: In addition to supervising basic nursing care, responsibilities of CNI+ICN include (but are not limited to):

1) Functions as a Clinical Instructor and Infection Control Nurse for assigned Centre, to ensure optimal patient care outcomes.

2) Coordinates and assesses educational development and clinical competency of the staffs in the field of Nursing and Infection Control and ensures continued competency through educational programs for both newly hired and experienced staffs as per Cloudnines Values and Vision.

3) Instructs, demonstrates and supervises staffs in principles and application of maternity and neonatal nursing as per the Clinical Care Levels.

4) Assesses the staffs specialty-specific procedural competencies.

5) Administers Objectively Structured Clinical Examination and evaluates staffs progress, and maintains records of classroom and clinical experience.

6) Demonstrates a balance between theoretical knowledge and clinical application.

7) Provides expertise, developing prevention strategies and protocols to improve patient and employees outcomes.

8) Leads Nurses to “think outside the box”, to try new ways through evidenced based practice to enhance and improve patient outcomes.

9) Guides the development of consistent and constant standards of practice of Nursing and Infection Control, ensures that the customers and employees get highest level of care.

10) Takes up CNE program in the absence of the Nursing Coordinator.

11) Coordinates with Assistant Manger Nursing care and participates in planning and preparation of monthly teaching calendar as per the need of the Unit.

12) Conducts departmental education and adapt teaching styles to meet the needs of the particular department.

13) Conducts Nursing Audits to improve the clinical skills of the staffs and quality.

14) Serves as a resource for staffs during their tenure in Cloud Nine.

15) Mentors the fresher’s/ new joiners and orient them to the policies and protocols of Cloud Nine.

16) Operates a variety of standard medical equipments and updates time to time.

17) Keep abreast of developments in maternity and neonatal nursing by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.

18) Participates in staff recruitment and placement activities.

19) Communicates with Nursing Coordinator regarding staff performance issue.

20) Troubleshoots complex patient care issues and mentors the staffs for the same.

21) Collaborates with the consultants to update clinical guidelines, procedures and policies.

22) Participates in Quality and Interdepartmental meetings wherever is required.

23) Obtains reviews and analyzes information in collaboration with the patient, family, significant other as related to educational needs.

24) Provides community education services as necessary.

25) Plans for personal growth as related to goals based on self-assessment, evaluation and feedback.

26) Provides consultation to internal customers (e.g. staff and physicians) and external (e.g. patients/significant others and other medical facilities).

27) Assists in the development of nurses’ advocacy and moral Cloudnine through role modeling, teaching and/or coaching.

28) Serves as an agent for professional nursing educational issues.

29) Responsible to maintain a safe and clean work environment, including unit based specific safety and infection control requirements.
