Job summary

GoldSeal SaarGummi India Pvt Ltd in Tamil Nadu (Sriperumbudur) seeks a Production Planning and Industrial Engineering professional to drive capacity planning, time studies, line balancing and productivity improvements across rubber extrusion, curing, molding and assembly lines.

You will establish production standards, monitor OEE, implement Lean practices such as 5S and Kaizen, and coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering to reduce downtime and optimize material flow.

Qualifications

  • Experience in production planning and capacity analysis.
  • Knowledge of SMV/standard time and line balancing.
  • Ability to conduct time studies and work measurement.
  • Experience in rubber manufacturing is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze production requirements, capacity, and bottlenecks.
  • Conduct time studies and establish Standard Minute Value.
  • Balance lines and optimize manpower across production lines.
  • Monitor productivity, downtime, and lean improvement projects.
  • Analyze OEE and coordinate with maintenance, quality, and engineering.
  • Lead continuous improvement via Lean, 5S, and Kaizen.
  • Improve rubber extrusion, curing, molding, and assembly processes.
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities across manpower and materials.
  • Develop layouts and optimize material flow.
  • Support new product/process feasibility and PFMEA related tasks.

Job description

Role & responsibilities
A. Production Planning & Capacity Analysis
  • Analyze production requirements, machine capacity, manpower availability, and process capacity.
  • Prepare and maintain machine and process capacity calculations.
  • Identify capacity constraints and bottlenecks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support production planning for extrusion, cutting, splicing, molding, curing, assembly, inspection, and packing processes.
  • Establish production standards based on cycle time, process time, and available working hours.
B. Time Study & Work Measurement
  • Conduct time studies, method studies, and work sampling for production processes.
  • Establish and periodically review Standard Minute Value (SMV) / Standard Time.
  • Develop and maintain standard cycle times for machines and operations.
  • Identify process losses and eliminate non-value-added activities.
  • Conduct man-machine analysis and optimize operator utilization.
C. Line Balancing & Manpower Optimization
  • Perform line balancing based on customer demand and takt time.
  • Optimize manpower allocation across production lines.
  • Identify excess/shortage manpower and recommend suitable deployment.
  • Develop manpower standards for different production processes.
  • Support multi-skilling and operator flexibility initiatives.
D. Productivity Improvement
  • Monitor and improve labour productivity, machine productivity, and production efficiency.
  • Analyze productivity losses and establish improvement actions.
  • Track daily/weekly/monthly productivity against targets.
  • Implement productivity improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing techniques.
  • Support reduction of downtime, waiting time, changeover time, rejection, rework, and material movement.
E. OEE & Machine Utilization
  • Monitor and analyze Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Analyze Availability, Performance, and Quality losses.
  • Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams to improve machine utilization.
  • Develop action plans for major machine losses and bottlenecks.
F. Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement
  • Drive Kaizen, 5S, Visual Management, Poka-Yoke, SMED, and waste elimination activities.
  • Identify and eliminate the 8 wastes (DOWNTIME) in manufacturing.
  • Conduct Value Stream Mapping (VSM) where applicable.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects and document improvement results.
  • Support implementation of Lean Manufacturing practices across the plant.
G. Process Improvement Rubber Manufacturing
  • Study and improve processes related to rubber extrusion, curing/vulcanization, cutting, splicing, molding, assembly, and inspection.
  • Analyze material yield, scrap, rejection, and process losses.
  • Optimize process flow and workstation layout.
  • Reduce unnecessary material handling and operator movement.
  • Support improvement of rubber compound utilization and reduction of process scrap.
H. Cost Reduction
  • Identify opportunities for manpower, material, energy, machine, and process cost reduction.
  • Calculate savings from IE improvement projects.
  • Monitor actual savings against approved targets.
  • Support Value Engineering and Cost Reduction initiatives.
I. Layout & Material Flow
  • Develop and improve plant, line, and workstation layouts.
  • Optimize material flow from incoming material to finished goods.
  • Reduce transportation, handling, WIP, and unnecessary movement.
  • Support implementation of FIFO and appropriate line-side material storage.
J. New Product / New Process Support
  • Participate in new product development and process feasibility activities.
  • Prepare manpower, machine, capacity, cycle-time, and process-flow requirements.
  • Support PFMEA, Control Plan, Process Flow Diagram, and work instruction development.
  • Conduct capacity and investment analysis for new projects.
  • Support APQP activities related to manufacturing feasibility.
