Job summary

Generac in Pune, India seeks an Industrial Designer III to collaborate with sales, marketing, engineering and product teams to create concepts for redesigns and ensure brand consistency across products.

You will lead design phases, translate innovation into concepts, and guide projects from concept to production with strong visualization, prototyping and 3-D modeling skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial design or equivalent experience.
• 5 years design experience.
• Experience designing for wide audiences and varied product lines (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Work closely with sales, marketing, engineering and product teams to create concepts for redesign on products.
• Lead in phases of product development, translating innovation to concepts and bringing concepts to production.
• Conceptualize, produce and design for projects; assist in creating Visual Brand Language and maintain brand standards.
• Scope and plan large, complex design projects.
• Research new product categories and innovations and communicate to upper management.
• Lead brainstorming sessions to gather innovative ideas with various groups.
• Mentor Industrial Designers I and II.

JOB SUMMARY

The Industrial Designer III is responsible for interacting with all teams throughout the Generac global organization contributing to product development, innovation and marketing. The III Level will not only contribute, but regularily lead design translation and project momentum by helping inspire and lead Engineering and Marketing team members through owning strategic conversation, brainstorming sessions, renderings, illustrations, physical prototypes, 3-D models and other forms of samples.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, or equivalent experience.
• 5 years design experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience designing for widely varying audience’s (all Business Groups and ROW) and varying product
• Able to lead in phases of product development, translating innovation to concepts, working with project teams to bring concepts to production

• Ability to work closely with internal and external teams to create compelling clear design work.
• Ability to effectively use SolidWords, Adobe Creative Suite and Sketchbook Pro
• Must be able to create compelling brand standards, follow brand standards and understand how to adapt them when working on complex projects
• Ability to work independently from start to finish on multiple projects within a team environment across a large global organization
