Job summary

OpenGov is seeking an experienced Implementation Engineer to lead data migration, configuration, and testing of cloud software for complex government deployments. You will validate data, design end-to-end migration plans, and mentor junior engineers across the project lifecycle.

The role requires strong SQL and Python scripting skills, expertise in ETL concepts, and excellent communication with executive and technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 4–9 years of experience in software implementation, data migration, or technical consulting.
• 4+ years of SQL scripting experience with complex queries, data transformation and reconciliation.
• 3+ years of Python or similar scripting for automation and data processing.
• Deep experience with database technologies, ETL and data-migration concepts and tools.
• Experience implementing AI-driven solutions for automation and data insights.
• Ability to deliver complex implementations end to end and mentor engineers.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

• Lead the data migration, configuration, and testing of OpenGov cloud software for the most complex government implementations across the United States
• Perform configuration reviews across the team, validating that platform setup aligns with documented requirements, product best practices, and long-term maintainability before go-live
• Perform data reviews, validating migrated data for completeness, accuracy, and integrity, and reconciling source-to-target data so the product reflects trusted, audit-ready customer data
• Own complex customer data migration end to end, including database schema mapping, ETL tool configuration, and advanced scripting, to ensure the product is populated with accurate, validated data
• Confirm and pressure-test customer requirements across both configuration and data, resolving ambiguity and advising customers on the optimal solution design
• Design and execute comprehensive test scenarios that validate the configuration and migrated data produce accurate, expected outcomes prior to go-live
• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for government / customer stakeholder like Budget Directors, IT personnel, and decision-makers, guiding them through the deployment and integration process
• Identify recurring customer pain points and partner with cross-functional teams to simplify, enhance, and automate processes that improve customer workflows and delivery efficiency
• Mentor and coach Associate and mid-level Implementation Engineers, reviewing their configuration and data work and helping accelerate their technical growth
• Define and improve implementation standards, templates, playbooks, and reusable tooling that increase the quality, consistency, and speed of delivery
• Partner closely with the Project Management, Customer Success Management, Data/Integration, and Product teams to ensure a consistent customer experience, and channel field feedback into the product roadmap

Preferred candidate profile

• 4 to 9 years of experience in software implementation, data migration, or technical consulting, ideally with enterprise or SaaS products
• 4+ years of hands-on SQL scripting experience, including complex queries, data transformation, and reconciliation
• 3+ years of Python, or similar, scripting experience for automation and data processing
• Deep experience with database technologies and with ETL and data-migration concepts and tools, including schema design and performance considerations
• Experience implementing AI-driven solutions for automation, workflow optimization, and data-driven insights, leveraging modern frameworks and AI models
• Demonstrated ability to deliver complex implementations end to end and to mentor or provide technical guidance to less-experienced engineers
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with a strong teamwork and customer-service mentality across executive and technical stakeholders
• Strong attention to detail, with the proven ability to validate, reconcile, and sign off on data and configuration for accuracy
• Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing product and respond strategically to evolving customer needs
