Job summary

Alignity Solutions in India is seeking an experienced IBM z/VSE Mainframe Admin for a contract-to-hire role with night shifts (9:00 PM–6:00 AM IST) and a hybrid work mode. The ideal candidate has 8–10+ years of mainframe experience and will handle production support, design, development, and deployments on IBM z/VSE.

The role covers analysis of BRDs, design of system enhancements, JCL/PROCs development, ChangeMan release management, testing, RCA, and incident coordination across cross-functional

• Strong experience with IBM z/VSE environment.
• Hands-on experience with Mainframe programming.
• Experience with JCL and PROCs.
• Experience with ChangeMan deployment and release management.
• Strong knowledge of production support processes.
• Experience in incident management and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
• Ability to lead critical incident calls and coordinate issue resolution.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• RequirementAnalysis & Solution Design: Analyze BRDs and translate into technical design and implementation plans.
• Development & Build: Develop and maintain mainframe programs, JCLs, and PROCs within IBM z/VSE.
• Testing & Quality Assurance: Perform unit, system, and integration testing; ensure quality before deployment.
• Deployment & Release Management: Prepare deployment artefacts; validate packages and ensure proper releases.
• Production Support: Provide production support; investigate incidents and perform RCA; lead critical incident calls when required.
• Documentation: Prepare BRDs, design documents, test plans, scripts, and deployment plans.
• Cross-functional collaboration: Work with development, testing, and operations teams; provide status updates.

Requirements

KeyResponsibilities

RequirementAnalysis & Solution Design

• Analyze Business Requirement Documents (BRDs) and design documents.
  
• Understand business requirements and visualize therequired system enhancements and modifications.
  
• Translate requirements into technical design andimplementation plans.
  

Development& Build

• Develop and maintain mainframe programs, JCLs,and PROCs within the IBM z/VSE environment.
  
• Follow coding standards and best practices for mainframe development.
  
• Perform independent code reviews to ensure code quality and maintainability.
  

Testing& Quality Assurance

• Perform Unit Testing, System Testing, andIntegration Testing to validate system functionality.
  
• Ensure all deliverables meet quality standardsbefore deployment.
  

Deployment& Release Management

• Ensure all deployment deliverables are prepared andvalidated.
  
• Verify that ChangeMan packages are audited andfrozen before deployment.
  
• Confirm that all required components are includedin the ChangeMan deployment package.
  

ProductionSupport

• Provide production support for applicationsrunning on IBM z/VSE.
  
• Investigate and resolve incidents and productionissues.
  
• Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) forreported issues and implement preventive measures.
  
• Participate in and lead critical incident callswhen required.
  
• Prepare and maintain project documentationincluding:
  
• BRDs and Design Documents
  
• Test Plans and Test Scripts
  
• Deployment Plans
  
• Ensure all deliverables are maintained and updatedthroughout the project lifecycle.
  
• Provide regular status updates to Team Leads andProject Managers.
  
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including development,testing, and operations teams.
  
• Demonstrate strong communication skills whileworking in a production support environment.
