Job summary

ZettaMine Labs Pvt. Ltd. in India is seeking a Senior Mainframe DB2 DBA with extensive hands-on experience to manage database administration across TEST, QA, and PROD environments. The role requires 12+ years of DB2 expertise and strong utility, tuning, and security skills.

You will lead maintenance, backups, and disaster recovery, install/patch DB2 subsystems, and collaborate with application teams to resolve complex issues and ensure data integrity and performance.

Qualifications

Minimum 12 years hands-on experience in Mainframe DB2 Database Administration.
Strong experience with DB2 utilities such as COPY, REORG, RUNSTATS, LOAD/UNLOAD, QUIESCE, REBIND.
Expertise in DB2 performance tuning, capacity management, and space management.
Proficiency in JCL and IBM DB2 utilities; production support experience.
Experience leading technical initiatives and coordinating with application teams.
Knowledge of DB2 objects, DDL, DML, tablespaces, partitions, and privileges.

Responsibilities

Perform end-to-end DB2 database administration across Test, QA, and Prod environments.
Install, configure, maintain, upgrade, and patch Mainframe DB2 databases/subsystems.
Create, modify, and maintain DB2 objects, DDL, and database privileges.
Manage DB2 security, user permissions, access controls, and compliance.
Perform backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and restore activities.
Execute and schedule DB2 maintenance utilities including COPY, REORG, RUNSTATS, QUIESCE, LOAD, UNLOAD.
Perform ad-hoc REORGs, RUNSTATS, and REBINDs in production environments.
Monitor DB2 health, performance, capacity, and space utilization; manage partitions.
Monitor housekeeping jobs and production DB2 batch jobs across cycles.
Provide technical guidance and resolve database-related issues with application teams.

REQUIREMENT FOR SENIOR MAINFRAME DB2 DBA:

Key Responsibilities:

Perform end-to-end DB2 database administration activities across TEST, QA, and PROD environments.
Install, configure, maintain, upgrade, and patch Mainframe DB2 databases/subsystems.
Create, modify, and maintain DB2 objects, DDL, and database privileges.
Manage DB2 security, user permissions, access controls, and compliance.
Perform database backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and restore activities.
Execute and schedule DB2 maintenance utilities including COPY, REORG, RUNSTATS, QUIESCE, LOAD, and UNLOAD.
Perform ad-hoc REORGs, RUNSTATS, and REBINDs in production environments.
Monitor and manage DB2 database health, performance, capacity, and space utilization.
Perform partition rebalancing and tablespace migration activities.
Monitor housekeeping jobs including Image Copy, RUNSTATS, DDL/DML reports, and other DB2 maintenance processes.
Create and schedule production DB2 utility and maintenance jobs.
Implement and monitor production DB2 batch jobs across daily, weekly, and monthly cycles.
Perform major data refreshes from Production to Test environments.
Support refreshing, copying, recovering, reorganizing, and maintaining test and production databases.
Perform database and DB parameter tuning to improve system performance.
Assist application teams with SQL error diagnosis, performance tuning, and database-related technical issues.
Support migration of DDL and DB2 objects across environments through Production.
Implement DB2 objects across various environments, from TEST through PROD.
Handle high-volume Production DB2 subsystems and provide 24x7 production support on a rotational basis.
Participate in end-to-end release activities, production deployments, and implementation activities.
Handle backup, recovery, and disaster recovery responsibilities for primary and secondary production environments.
Work with application teams to provide technical guidance and resolve database-related issues.
Participate in on-call and off-hours support as required.
Act as a Technical Lead/ISME and provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing across Mainframe platforms.
Independently investigate complex technical problems and provide effective solutions.
