Job summary

KALT Refrigeration is seeking an HVAC / Refrigeration Engineer to lead development from concept to production, ensuring cooling performance and energy efficiency. The role emphasizes testing, validation, and quality through the product life cycle.

You will analyze field data, troubleshoot issues, and implement design improvements while coordinating with production teams on the shop floor and in the office.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of commercial refrigeration systems and the vapor-compression cycle.
• Practical knowledge of compressors, condensers, evaporators, TXVs/expansion devices, and refrigeration controls.
• Understanding refrigeration controls and defrost systems.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and basic engineering/CAD tools.

About the Role

KALT Refrigeration is looking for a technically strong and hands-on HVAC / Refrigeration Engineer to lead the development, testing, optimization and quality of our commercial refrigeration products. The selected candidate will play a key role in taking products from concept to production, ensuring that every refrigeration system delivers the required cooling performance, energy efficiency, reliability, and production quality.

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Development

• Develop new commercial refrigeration products from concept, prototype and testing through production.
• Design and select suitable refrigeration systems and components based on product requirements.
• Develop and improve refrigeration circuits, component selection, and system configuration.

2. Refrigeration System Optimization

• Optimize refrigeration systems for cooling performance, energy efficiency, and reliability.
• Analyze compressor, condenser, evaporator, expansion device and refrigerant selection.
• Troubleshoot refrigeration performance issues and implement engineering improvements.

3. Testing & Validation

• Plan and conduct product performance testing, including cooling, pull-down, temperature stability, energy consumption, defrost and reliability testing.
• Analyze test results and make necessary design modifications before production release.
• Establish standard testing procedures and performance benchmarks for products.

4. Production & Quality

• Review refrigeration production processes and ensure products are manufactured according to engineering specifications.
• Monitor critical processes such as piping, brazing, vacuuming, refrigerant charging, and leak testing.
• Identify production issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.

5. Continuous Improvement

• Reduce energy consumption, production defects, rework, and field failures.
• Improve product reliability and manufacturing efficiency.
• Evaluate new components, technologies, and refrigeration solutions for future products.

6. Technical Support

• Provide technical support to production and service teams.
• Analyze field failures and customer complaints and convert them into product improvements.
• Prepare and maintain technical specifications, BOMs, test reports, and engineering documentation.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of commercial refrigeration systems and the vapor-compression cycle.
• Practical knowledge of compressors, condensers, evaporators, TXVs/expansion devices, and refrigeration controls.
• Good understanding of refrigerant charging, vacuuming, leak testing, superheat, and subcooling.
• Ability to troubleshoot refrigeration systems using actual operating data.
• Understanding refrigeration controls and defrost systems.
• Good knowledge of thermodynamics and heat transfer.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and basic engineering/CAD tools.
