Job summary

DesignTree Service Consultants Pvt Ltd in Maharashtra seeks a Senior HVAC Design Engineer / Team Lead HVAC with 7–10 years’ experience to design, plan, coordinate and deliver HVAC systems for commercial, residential, industrial, healthcare and institutional projects in India. You will perform load calculations, equipment selection, and develop design drawings and specifications.

Coordinate with Civil, Structural, Architectural and other MEP disciplines, review shop drawings, ensure NBC/ASHRAE/IS

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in HVAC design and building services consultancy preferred.
• Knowledge of HVAC load calculations, equipment selection, duct design and chilled water piping design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of Revit MEP and HVAC calculation software desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC systems including chilled water, VRF/VRV, DX, ventilation and exhaust.
• Prepare HVAC layouts, ducting and piping layouts, sections, and equipment room layouts.
• Develop design calculations, technical specifications, BOQs, and tender documents.
• Coordinate with Civil, Structural, Architectural, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire & Life Safety and other MEP disciplines.
• Ensure compliance with NBC, ISHRAE/ASHRAE, ECSBC and local regulations; drive energy-efficient solutions.

Role Description

Job Title: Senior HVAC Design Engineer / Team Lead HVAC

Experience: 7 to 10 Years

The HVAC Design Engineer will be responsible for designing, planning, coordinating, and delivering HVAC systems for commercial, residential, industrial, hospitality, healthcare, and institutional projects. The role involves HVAC load calculations, system selection, preparation of design drawings, technical specifications, BOQs, and coordination with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure energy-efficient, cost-effective, and code-compliant solutions.

Key Responsibilities

1. HVAC System Design

• Design HVAC systems, including chilled water systems, VRF/VRV systems, DX systems, ventilation, and exhaust systems.
• Perform heating and cooling load calculations using applicable software and engineering methodologies.
• Select HVAC equipment such as chillers, AHUs, FCUs, VRF/VRV units, pumps, fans, and cooling towers.
• Design ducting, chilled water piping, refrigerant piping, ventilation, and smoke extraction systems.
• Prepare HVAC design concepts, schematic diagrams, equipment layouts, and detailed engineering drawings.

2. Drawings and Documentation

• Prepare HVAC layouts, ducting layouts, piping layouts, sections, and equipment room layouts.
• Develop design calculations, technical specifications, BOQs, and tender documents.
• Review shop drawings, material submittals, and technical data submitted by contractors.
• Ensure drawings and documentation comply with project requirements and applicable standards.

3. Coordination and BIM

• Coordinate with Civil, Structural, Architectural, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire & Life Safety, and other MEP disciplines.
• Identify and resolve design clashes through multidisciplinary coordination.
• Prepare and review HVAC models using Revit MEP, AutoCAD, and BIM coordination tools, as applicable.
• Participate in design review meetings and coordination workshops.

4. Codes, Standards and Energy Efficiency

• Ensure compliance with applicable NBC provisions, ASHRAE standards, ECBC requirements, and relevant local regulations.
• Incorporate energy-efficient HVAC solutions and sustainable design practices.
• Evaluate system performance, indoor air quality, thermal comfort, ventilation rates, and operational efficiency.

5. Project Execution and Quality

• Coordinate with clients, architects, project managers, site teams, and contractors.
• Review site conditions and provide technical support during installation and commissioning.
• Resolve technical queries, review deviations, and recommend appropriate engineering solutions.
• Ensure timely delivery of design packages while maintaining quality and accuracy.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent relevant qualification.
• Experience in HVAC design and building services consultancy is preferred.
• Knowledge of HVAC load calculations, equipment selection, duct design, and chilled water piping design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of Revit MEP and HVAC calculation software is desirable.
• Understanding of NBC, ISHRAE/ASHRAE, ECSBC, and applicable building services standards.
• Strong coordination, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
