Job summary

Oil States International is seeking an HSE Manager based in India to design, implement, and coordinate its environmental, health, and safety programs. The role reports to senior management and drives compliance, risk assessments, and training across the division.

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in manufacturing or engineering environments with high hazards, strong knowledge of OHSAS 18000:2007 and ISO 14001, and a track record of leading HSE teams.ERP and MS Office skills

Qualifications

  • Graduate or BSc/ Diploma in Engineering with higher degree in safety.
  • Experience in manufacturing or engineering environments with high hazards.
  • 12–15 years in a mid-size organization; 2+ years in a managerial role.
  • Knowledge of EHS standards such as OHSAS 18000:2007 and ISO 14001.
  • Proficient in MS Office; ERP knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Directs the Division's HSE programs and reports to senior management.
  • Conduct hazard and risk assessments and update policies accordingly.
  • Staff and lead the HSE department; assist budgeting and training.
  • Coordinate OSHA/EPA compliance and regulatory affairs.
  • Lead investigations of incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement JSA and safe operating procedures.
  • Conduct site visits and participate in industry conferences when needed.

Job description

The HSE Manager is responsible for the design, implementation, communication and coordination of all environmental, health, and safety programs for the Division. This position will develop and provide technical and administrative direction on all HSE decisions, which bear critical importance to overall OSI India objectives, operations, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Directs the resources and activities of the Division to support the HSE programs by providing advice and guidance to the Company Senior Management
  • Continually maintain an appropriate level of awareness, knowledge and preparedness across the Division to create a culture that prioritizes effective HSE and balances overall associated costs
  • Review internal HSE policies and practices to ensure they are current and appropriate; conduct hazard and risk assessments and change existing, or develop new recommendations from these assessments
  • Serve as the Division expert within the field of HSE when called upon to address regulatory agency compliance issues, third party safety & liability consultants and subcontractor representatives
  • Responsible for staffing and directing the HSE Department, based on the inputs received from the corporate safety department
  • Responsible for the development of an annual budget recommendations and implementation
  • Provide regular written reports, as well as other production-related results and updates to the Top Management Team at India and Corporate Safety team
  • Assist project team in investigation of all project incidents (GL/WC/Recordable Incidents, Near Miss and First Aid) and ensure proper records are completed and submitted. Assist in Implementation of corrective actions as it relates to the incident and ensure “lessons learned” are communicated throughout the Company and are incorporated into the program, if necessary
  • Devise, supervise, and coordinate training programs or media which will increase proficiency in safe practices and promote HSE consciousness
  • Actively participate in the scheduling of safety meetings across Company locations to review HSE performance and policies
  • Address specific reporting and record keeping requirements of OSHA, EPA, etc., as well as other pertinent safety/regulatory compliance matters and to ensure project sites are in compliance
  • Oversight of Division’s HSE incentive programs and periodically reviews them to ensure they are accomplishing the desired results. Make necessary changes to the program to maximize effect
  • Stay abreast of current and emerging technical and professional aspects of this position
  • Assist with and participate in sales presentations
  • Implementations of JSA and all Safe operating procedures required for safe working
  • Conduct site visits/audits
  • Participate/attend industry related conferences when requested to do so
Person Specifications:

PROFILE:

Must have

Qualifications:

Graduate or BSc or Diploma in Engineering with higher degree in safety.

Must have worked in Manufacturing organizations or engineering organizations where the hazards are very high

Experience:
  • Should have min 12-15 yrs exp in mid size organization. preferably in the Crane Manufacturing or Engineering Industry
  • Should have performed in managerial capability at least for 2 years.
