Job summary

EDF Power Solutions India is seeking an HSE Engineer to administer the project health and safety program and foster a strong safety culture on site. You will work with the HSE Manager to ensure compliance and continuous improvement across all activities.

Key responsibilities include inductions, toolbox talks, contractor pre-planning, weekly meetings, third-party inspections, and maintaining PTW and incident records. Strong regulatory knowledge and 5+ years in safety roles are desired.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction or industrial safety roles.
  • Certification in HSE practices (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) preferred.
  • Strong understanding of local safety regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Promote safety awareness through regular communication aligned with corporate HSE directives
  • Conduct induction and jobsite orientation for all new employees and maintain records
  • Organize pre-planning safety meetings with contractors to define procedures before work begins
  • Hold weekly safety meetings with contractor representatives and document minutes
  • Coordinate third-party inspections of construction equipment and machinery prior to use
  • Implement the project-specific HSE plan and ensure alignment with current legislation and standards
  • Maintain health and safety registers, checklists, permits-to-work (PTW), and documentation
  • Identify and communicate potential hazards and risks to relevant stakeholders
  • Monitor contractor activities against Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS)
  • Conduct regular site inspections and ensure timely closure of identified actions
  • Record, report, and investigate safety incidents and ensure corrective actions are implemented
  • Lead toolbox talks and safety training sessions for site personnel
  • Evaluate contractor and supplier compliance with project HSE requirements
  • Compile and submit periodic safety statistics and reports

Key Responsibilities:
Financial:
  • Remain vigilant for unsafe conditions and take immediate corrective action
  • Ensure optimal utilization of safety resources and equipment
Customer:
  • Address and resolve safety non-compliances raised by authorities and site teams
Operational:
  • Promote safety awareness through regular communication aligned with corporate HSE directives
  • Conduct induction and jobsite orientation for all new employees and maintain records
  • Organize pre-planning safety meetings with contractors to define procedures before work begins
  • Hold weekly safety meetings with contractor representatives and document minutes

  • Strong understanding of local safety regulations and standards
