Job summary

Sodexo is seeking an experienced HSE Manager to lead health, safety and environmental activities on a large civil construction and industrial infrastructure project. You will implement and maintain the project HSE management system, drive compliance with statutory regulations, and foster a strong safety culture on site.

The role includes audits, incident investigations, PTW oversight, risk assessments, training, emergency planning, and coordination with clients and authorities.

Qualifications

  • B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Engineering with safety certification.
  • Degree or Diploma in Industrial Safety recognized by authorities.
  • NEBOSH IGC or IOSH Managing Safely preferred.
  • ISO 45001 knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain project HSE management system aligned with client requirements and regulations.
  • Develop and enforce HSE policies, procedures, SOPs, and site safety plans.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements and client HSE protocols.
  • Lead HSE activities during mobilization, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Monitor high-risk activities and ensure PTW systems are applied.
  • Conduct hazard identification, risk assessments, inspections, audits, CAPA closure.
  • Investigate incidents, lead root-cause analysis, report to management.
  • Provide training, toolbox talks, and promote zero-incident culture.
  • Coordinate with clients and authorities and submit periodic safety reports.
  • Maintain HSE documentation and prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports.

Reporting To: Project Manager / Regional HSE Head
Job summary
We are looking for an experienced HSE Manager to lead and manage all health, safety, and environmental activities for a large civil construction and industrial infrastructure project. The HSE Manager will be responsible for implementing the project HSE management system, ensuring statutory compliance, managing high-risk construction activities, conducting audits, leading incident investigations, and driving a strong safety culture across the project.
Key responsibilities
HSE management

  • Implement and maintain the project HSE management system in line with client requirements and statutory regulations.
  • Develop and enforce HSE policies, procedures, SOPs, and site safety plans.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements, industrial safety standards, and client HSE protocols.

Site safety leadership

  • Lead all HSE activities during mobilization, construction, commissioning, and project closeout.
  • Monitor high-risk activities including work at height, excavation, lifting operations, scaffolding, electrical works, hot work, confined space entry, and heavy equipment operations.
  • Ensure implementation of permit-to-work (PTW) systems and safe work practices.

Risk assessment & compliance

  • Conduct hazard identification, HIRA/JSA, risk assessments, and method statement reviews.
  • Ensure implementation of control measures for all construction activities.
  • Conduct regular HSE inspections, audits, and compliance reviews.
  • Monitor corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) until closure.

Incident management

  • Investigate incidents, near misses, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions.
  • Perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain incident records and submit reports to management and clients.

Training & safety culture

  • Conduct induction programs, toolbox talks, safety training, emergency drills, and awareness campaigns.
  • Mentor site HSE officers and supervisors.
  • Promote behavioral safety and a zero-incident culture across the project.

Emergency preparedness

  • Develop emergency response plans for fire, medical emergencies, rescue operations, and environmental incidents.
  • Coordinate mock drills and emergency response exercises.
  • Ensure availability and maintenance of emergency equipment.

Client & regulatory coordination

  • Coordinate with client HSE teams, consultants, and statutory authorities.
  • Participate in HSE review meetings and submit periodic safety reports.
  • Ensure compliance with client audit observations and HSE performance targets.

Documentation & reporting

  • Maintain HSE documentation including PTW records, inspection reports, audit reports, training records, incident reports, and statutory registers.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly HSE performance reports.
  • Track HSE KPIs and recommend improvement initiatives.

Required qualifications

  • B.E./B.Tech / Diploma in Engineering.
  • Degree or Diploma in Industrial Safety recognized by a statutory authority.
  • NEBOSH IGC / IOSH Managing Safely (preferred).
  • Additional certifications in Construction Safety, Fire Safety, or ISO 45001 will be an advantage.

Experience

  • 10 to 12 years of HSE experience in industrial construction, infrastructure, EPC, power, solar, oil & gas, warehouse, or large civil construction projects.
  • Experience working on Adani, Tata, L&T, Hitachi, or other major industrial projects will be preferred.
