Job summary

J M BAXI in Mumbai seeks an experienced HSE professional to lead planning and strategy for complex construction projects. You will develop project HSE plans, budgets, and resource plans aligned with corporate requirements and safety goals.

Responsibilities include risk assessment and control, JSA reviews, Life Saving Rules enforcement, incident investigations, contractor safety, audits, and mandatory reporting to regulatory authorities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering / Safety / Environmental Science
  • NEBOSH / IOSH / OSHA Certification (preferred)
  • 10–12 years experience in project/construction HSE
  • Strong knowledge of risk management & contractor safety

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Project HSE Plan aligned with corporate and business requirements
  • Prepare project-specific HSE budget and resource plan
  • Conduct project risk profiling and safety strategy development
  • Lead Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA)
  • Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA) / Method Statement reviews
  • Ensure effective implementation of Life Saving Rules
  • Monitor high-risk activities (work at height, lifting, confined space, hot work, etc.)
  • Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits
  • Ensure contractor HSE compliance
  • Lead toolbox talks and safety inductions
  • Monitor PTW (Permit to Work) system implementation
  • Investigate incidents and High Potential Near Misses
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  • Track corrective and preventive actions
  • Ensure compliance with local legal regulations
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities when required
  • Maintain statutory documentation and reporting
  • Evaluate contractor HSE competency
  • Conduct contractor safety meetings
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and operations teams
  • Implement waste management plans
  • Monitor environmental impact and mitigation controls
  • Track KPIs (TRIR, LTIFR, Near Miss, Audit Scores)
  • Prepare weekly/monthly HSE reports
  • Present HSE performance to management
