Job summary

HFCL in Hyderabad seeks an experienced HR Operations & Payroll Manager to lead end-to-end payroll for a 1,500+ manufacturing workforce, including permanent staff and contract workers. You will own time office, attendance, and statutory compliance, driving HRMS processes and payroll accuracy.

The role requires strong Excel skills, payroll system experience, and the ability to partner with Finance and Operations. Work from office in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in HR Operations and Payroll.
  • Experience managing payroll for a manufacturing workforce of 1,500+ employees.
  • Strong expertise in end-to-end payroll, time office, statutory compliance, overtime calculations, HRMS and advanced Excel.
  • Experience in HRMS implementation or process digitization preferred.
  • Based in Hyderabad and willing to work from office.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll management for 1,500+ employees (permanent and contract).
  • Ensure timely payroll processing, salary disbursement and payroll closure.
  • Handle inputs related to attendance, leaves, overtime, incentives, deductions and settlements.
  • Compute income tax/TDS and ensure statutory payroll deductions (PF, ESI, etc.).
  • Coordinate with Finance for payroll reconciliation and payment activities.
  • Manage Time Office operations, attendance inputs, shift rosters and overtime calculations.
  • Maintain HR data in HRMS and drive HR operations for the unit.
  • Identify automation opportunities and support HRMS/payroll system implementations.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced HR Operations & Payroll professional with strong experience in managing payroll and HR operations for a large-scale manufacturing workforce of 1,500+ employees, including permanent employees and contract workmen.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in end-to-end payroll management, time office operations, statutory compliance, overtime calculations, HRMS and advanced Excel. Experience in HRMS implementation or process digitization will be highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
Payroll Management
  • Manage the complete monthly payroll process for 1,500+ employees, including permanent employees and contract workforce.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, salary disbursement and payroll closure.
  • Manage payroll inputs related to attendance, leave, overtime, incentives, deductions, arrears, full and final settlement and other employee-related payments.
  • Ensure accurate income tax/TDS calculations and statutory payroll deductions.
  • Manage PF, ESI and other applicable statutory compliances.
  • Coordinate with Finance and other stakeholders for payroll processing, reconciliation and payment-related activities.
  • Review payroll reports and identify discrepancies before final payroll closure.
Time Office & Attendance Management
  • Manage end-to-end Time Office operations for a large manufacturing workforce.
  • Monitor attendance, shift rosters, weekly offs, leave, absenteeism and attendance regularization.
  • Manage shift-based attendance and working-hour calculations.
  • Ensure accurate overtime calculation and processing in line with company policies and applicable statutory requirements.
  • Coordinate with plant operations and department heads to ensure timely and accurate attendance inputs.
  • Manage attendance systems, biometric systems and HRMS integration.
HR Operations
  • Manage day-to-day HR Operations for the manufacturing unit.
  • Ensure timely and accurate employee data management in HRMS.
  • Manage employee lifecycle processes including joining, transfers, confirmation, leave, attendance, payroll inputs and separation.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.
  • Prepare HR MIS and reports related to headcount, absenteeism, overtime, payroll and workforce costs.
  • Work closely with plant HR, Finance, Operations and other stakeholders.
HRMS & Process Improvement
  • Manage HRMS and payroll systems and ensure data accuracy and process efficiency.
  • Candidates who have been involved in HRMS implementation, payroll system implementation, process automation or HR digitization projects will be preferred.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and improve payroll and HR operations processes.
  • Support system testing, data migration, UAT and implementation of new HR technology platforms.
Required Skills & Experience
  • 10+ years of experience in HR Operations and Payroll.
  • Must have managed payroll for a manufacturing workforce of 1,500+ employees, including permanent and contract employees.
  • Strong experience in Time Office and attendance management.
  • Excellent understanding of overtime calculations and shift-based payroll processing.
  • Strong knowledge of PF, ESI, TDS/Income Tax and other payroll-related statutory requirements.
  • Strong proficiency in Advanced MS Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, data analysis and payroll reconciliation.
  • Hands-on experience with HRMS and Payroll systems.
  • Experience in HRMS implementation or process automation will be an added advantage.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.

  • Candidate must be based in Hyderabad.
  • Must be willing to work from the office.
  • No significant career gaps will be considered.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is mandatory.
  • Experience managing a large employee population of 1,500+ employees is mandatory.
  • Strong hands-on experience in payroll, time office, overtime calculations and statutory compliance is essential.

Preferred Candidate Background: Manufacturing plants, automotive, engineering, FMCG, industrial manufacturing, electronics, telecom manufacturing or other large-scale manufacturing environments.
