Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the planning of the curriculum content, ensuring it is well sequenced to promote pupil progress.
• Strong focus on improving student learning outcomes and academic results.
• Ability to identify gaps in academics and assessments and implement effective improvement strategies.
• Ensure new teachers are well-aligned with curriculum standards, teaching methodologies, and school expectations.
• Foster a strong sense of team cohesion and collaboration within the English Department by encouraging open communication, sharing of best practices, and collective problem-solving.
• Expertise in paper setting and review assessments and term end paper across all segments of the English Department to maintain quality and consistency.
• Strong coordination and leadership skills to maintain departmental efficiency and collaboration.
• Ensure the planned curriculum is effectively and consistently implemented across the school.
• Reviewing the quality of textbooks and material created by content team.
• Reviewing the corrected assessments of the teachers and providing them with appropriate feedback.
• Supporting, training and reviewing of teacher created learning material.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

• Should have worked/working as Hod English.
• Educational Background: A masters degree in English or a related field, with recognized teaching qualifications (e.g., PGCE).
• Experience: Extensive teaching experience with Cambridge IGCSE, AS & A-Level English, and a strong understanding of Cambridge assessment criteria
• Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage a department, mentor teachers, and develop a high-quality curriculum.
