Petrocon Engineers & Consultant in India is seeking a Design Engineer (Mechanical — HVAC & Plumbing) for Industrial, Building & Infrastructure projects. You will develop and review HVAC and plumbing system designs, ensure code compliance and coordinate with other disciplines from concept through detailed engineering.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and 10+ years of HVAC and plumbing design experience, preferably with EPC/consultancy background.

Job Summary

The Design Engineer (Mechanical — HVAC & Plumbing) will develop and review HVAC and plumbing system designs for industrial and building projects, ensuring designs are technically sound, code compliant, and coordinated with other disciplines from concept through detailed engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review HVAC and plumbing system designs, calculations, and specifications for industrial and building projects.
• Develop design basis reports, heat load and pipe sizing calculations, equipment selection, and system schematics for HVAC, chilled water, and plumbing/drainage systems.
• Coordinate with architectural, structural, electrical, and infra teams to ensure integrated, clash-free design development.
• Review and guide drafting/BIM teams to ensure drawings accurately reflect the design intent.
• Prepare technical specifications, BOQs, and datasheets for HVAC and plumbing equipment and materials.
• Support tendering, vendor evaluation, and technical bid review for HVAC/plumbing packages.
• Provide technical support during construction, including RFI responses and site query resolution.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client/project specifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
• Professional certification/membership (e.g., relevant engineering council registration) is an advantage. Experience 10+ years of HVAC and plumbing design experience on industrial or building projects, with EPC/consultancy background preferred.

Key Skills

• Strong knowledge of HVAC and plumbing design codes and standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, local codes as applicable).
• Proficiency in relevant design/calculation software (HAP, Ductsizer, or equivalent) and Revit MEP coordination.
• Ability to prepare detailed design documentation, specifications, and BOQs.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
