Job summary

innopay in Coimbatore is seeking a Headend Engineer to operate, maintain, monitor, and optimize MSO Headend infrastructure, ensuring uninterrupted delivery of television services to subscribers.

You will manage signal reception, encoding, multiplexing, CAS, IPTV, content distribution, and troubleshoot network issues, with responsibilities spanning CAS & Middleware, IPTV operations, and network infrastructure while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, CS, IT, or a related field.
• 2–5 years in MSO, Cable TV, IPTV, Broadcast, or Headend Operations.
• Experience with Digital Cable TV or IPTV platforms preferred.
• Ability to work in a 24×7 operational environment.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Headend Engineer will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, monitoring, and optimization of the MSO Headend infrastructure, ensuring uninterrupted delivery of television services to subscribers. The role involves managing signal reception, encoding, multiplexing, conditional access systems (CAS), IPTV systems, content distribution, and troubleshooting network issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain the MSO Headend infrastructure for Cable TV, Digital TV, and IPTV services.
• Monitor the health and performance of all Headend equipment and services.
• Ensure uninterrupted transmission and distribution of television channels.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance of Headend systems.

Signal Management

• Monitor and maintain satellite reception systems, IRDs, encoders, multiplexers, and scramblers.
• Ensure proper signal quality and availability of all channels.
• Coordinate with broadcasters and content providers for signal-related issues.

CAS & Middleware Management

• Support and manage Conditional Access Systems (CAS), Subscriber Management Systems (SMS), and Middleware platforms.
• Coordinate channel authorization, package creation, and subscriber provisioning activities.
• Assist in troubleshooting CAS and subscriber authorization issues.

IPTV Operations

• Manage IPTV content ingestion, transcoding, streaming, and content delivery systems.
• Monitor IPTV platform performance and troubleshoot streaming issues.
• Support DRM, watermarking, and content security systems.

Network & Infrastructure Management

• Monitor Headend network infrastructure, including switches, routers, servers, and storage systems.
• Maintain redundancy and backup systems to ensure service continuity.
• Coordinate with ISP and network teams for connectivity-related issues.

Compliance & Documentation

• Ensure compliance with TRAI, MIB, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
• Maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, asset records, and operational logs.
• Prepare periodic technical reports and incident reports.
• Liaise with equipment vendors, broadcasters, and technology partners for issue resolution and upgrades.
• Support installation, commissioning, and testing of new Headend equipment and services.

Desired Skills & Competencies

• Understanding of MPEG-TS, DVB, IPTV, OTT, Multicast and Streaming technologies.
• Knowledge of Linux and Windows server environments.
• Familiarity with networking concepts including TCP/IP, VLANs, Routing, and Switching.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Ability to work in a 24x7 operational environment when required.

Qualifications

• Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience

• 2–5 years of experience in MSO, Cable TV, IPTV, Broadcast, or Headend Operations.
• Experience with Digital Cable TV or IPTV platforms will be preferred.
