Tata Steel Downstream Products (TSDPL) in Kolkata seeks a seasoned Mechanical Project & Maintenance professional to drive end-to-end execution of complex plant projects, ensuring scope, budget and timelines are met.
You will develop execution plans, review drawings and specs, coordinate installation, commissioning and handover, and implement preventive and predictive maintenance to maximize MTBF and equipment availability while controlling costs.
Lead end-to-end mechanical project execution in line with approved scope, budget and timelines.
Develop project execution plans, milestones, resource plans and risk mitigation strategies.
Review engineering drawings, equipment specifications, layouts, P&IDs and technical documents.
Ensure timely installation, erection, alignment, testing and commissioning of mechanical equipment.
Monitor project progress and resolve technical and execution bottlenecks.
Drive preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance strategies for mechanical equipment.
Ensure high availability and reliability of critical plant equipment.
Identify recurring failures and implement RCA, FMEA and corrective/preventive actions.
Drive improvements in MTBF, MTTR, equipment availability and maintenance cost.
Develop equipment criticality and spares strategies.
Manage installation/maintenance of equipment such as:
Review equipment selection, technical specifications and performance requirements.
Prepare/review mechanical CAPEX estimates and project budgets.
Ensure effective cost control throughout project execution.
Evaluate technical offers and support techno-commercial evaluation of vendors.
Identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising safety, quality or reliability.
Manage EPC contractors, OEMs, consultants and mechanical vendors.
Ensure contractor compliance with project schedules, specifications, quality and safety requirements.
Conduct technical discussions, site reviews and progress meetings.
Ensure effective contractor performance management.
Lead pre-commissioning, commissioning and performance trials.
Ensure punch-point closure and achievement of agreed equipment performance parameters.
Establish SOPs, maintenance plans, critical spares and documentation before handover.
Ensure smooth transition from project to plant maintenance/operations.
Ensure compliance with Tata Group/TSDPL safety standards and statutory requirements.
Drive safe work practices including PTW, LOTO, JSA and contractor safety management.
Ensure adherence to engineering standards, quality systems and environmental requirements.
Lead a team of mechanical engineers, supervisors and technicians.
Coordinate closely with Operations, Electrical, Instrumentation, Projects, Procurement, Quality, Safety and Finance.
Build technical capability within the mechanical maintenance/project team.
