Job summary

SATRAC is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Lead in Bengaluru to supervise fabrication operations, drive on-time delivery, and optimize costs while maintaining quality and safety standards. The role requires strong leadership, Lean practices, and deep knowledge of fabrication processes.

You will manage production planning, coordinate with QC and SCM, and develop people on the shop floor to sustain high productivity and improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering is required.
• 14+ years of heavy fabrication welding experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with QMS and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Willingness to experiment, innovate, and bring new ideas to the shop floor.

Responsibilities

• Manufacturing Strategy: plan, organize and manage all manufacturing aspects to ensure on-time delivery of quality products within cost targets.
• Production Planning and Execution: establish production schedules and ensure product mix aligns with plan.
• Coordination with internal and external stakeholders: align with sales, quality, SCM to meet targets and manage contractors.
• Managing Costs: monitor expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities without sacrificing quality.
• Quality and Safety: ensure high-quality fabrication, conduct inspections and enforce safety policies.
• Process Compliance: ensure adherence to all set processes.
• Managing and Developing People: lead and train fabrication team for high performance.

Job description

Smooth running of the entire Manufacturing plant by ensuring 100% compliance, and the safety of people, products, and equipment by ensuring all the laid down policies and procedures to meet the targets. Ensure meeting customer dispatch with high Quality and on-time delivery.

Principal Accountabilities:

Manufacturing Strategy:

• Plan, organize and manage all the aspects of manufacturing to ensure meet the ON-TIME DELIVERY of Quality products within stipulated costs of products.
• Monitor production schedules and coordinate with all other functions to meet the scheduled targets on time.
• Implement and maintain standard operation procedures and policies to bring standardization of all the processes, which will help in manufacturing quality products within standard takt time.
• Ensure all the skilled manpower available in the lines and add new people by using your networks which will help in manufacturing and delivery of products on time,

Production Planning and Execution

• Establishing the production schedule as per PPC/ Sales based on demand.
• Ensure that the planned product mix is produced as per plan, meeting the targets with respect to number, schedule, quality, and cost.
• bring in new ideas to inculcate flexibility in lines by accommodating the changes.

Coordination with internal and external stakeholders:

• Coordination with sales on delivery timelines.
• Coordinate with Quality & SCM to meet the planned targets.
• Plan & Manage the contractor's blue-collar workforce for Manufacturing.

Managing Costs:

• Monitor expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement measures to control production costs without compromising quality and efficiency.
• In charge of all conversion costs including contractor payments, and general conversion costs.

Quality and Safety

• Ensure the production of high-quality fabricated products. Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify compliance with quality standards. Address any quality issues or non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
• Overall responsibility for all aspects of safety, Quality, productivity, and customer complaints.

Managing and Developing People

• Lead and supervise a team of fabrication technicians, engineers, and support staff. Provide guidance, training, and support to ensure a high level of performance and productivity.

Health & Safety

• Ensure a safe working environment for all employees by enforcing safety policies and procedures. Conduct regular safety inspections, identify potential hazards, and implement corrective actions to minimize risks. Promote a culture of safety awareness and compliance.

Process Compliance

• Responsible for ensuring that all set processes are followed.

Knowledge & Skills needed to deliver on the accountabilities:

• Technical skills – in-depth knowledge of metal cutting, forming, and heavy Fabrication Welding & Painting Processes.
• Good knowledge of implementation of fixturing, gauges, and templets to ensure optimization of costs and consistent quality.
• Good leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
• Planning, Communication, and presentation skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.

Formal Education Requirements, as applicable:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering.
• Experience of 14+ Heavy Fabrication welding
• Familiarity with QMS and continuous improvement methodologies.
