Job summary

Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES) seeks an experienced Head of Engineering to lead and scale the Pune software engineering team. You will drive delivery excellence, establish secure-by-design practices, and align engineering efforts with Product, DevOps and senior leadership.

You will shape the technology direction, promote AI-driven engineering practices, and build a high-performing, globally connected engineering culture in Pune.

Qualifications

• Senior engineering leadership experience, ideally leading multi-disciplinary software engineering teams.
• Experience delivering complex software products or platforms in a commercial technology environment.
• Deep understanding of modern software engineering practices, including agile delivery, CI/CD, test automation and cloud-native architectures.
• Proven experience embedding quality, security, risk management and compliance into engineering delivery.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Head of Engineering to establish, lead, and grow IES’s India software engineering team, based in Pune.

This is a senior leadership role focused on engineering delivery, technical excellence, people leadership and operational rigour. As with all technology leadership roles, it’s essential to incorporate emerging AI capabilities into the team’s work.

You will provide day-to-day leadership for engineering teams in India, helping them deliver high-quality software, strengthen engineering practices, and work effectively with Product, DevOps, QA and senior leadership colleagues across IES.

The role will play a critical part in building Pune as a strategic engineering hub for IES. You will support our ambition to become an AI-first organisation and will lead the effort to apply AI responsibly and practically within your own team.

What You’ll Do

Skills & Experience

• Senior engineering leadership experience, ideally leading multi-disciplinary software engineering teams
• Strong experience delivering complex software products or platforms in a commercial technology environment
• Deep understanding of modern software engineering practices, including agile delivery, CI/CD, test automation and cloud-native architectures
• Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub or comparable engineering platforms and delivery toolchains
• Strong technical background with the ability to guide architecture, engineering trade-offs and delivery decisions
• Hands-on technical credibility across C#, .NET and React front-end development, with the ability to guide teams on modern engineering approaches
• Proven experience embedding quality, security, risk management and compliance into engineering delivery
• Experience applying AI-assisted engineering practices, developer productivity tooling or AI platforms at team scale
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels

Nice to Have

• Experience growing engineering teams in India or scaling technology capability in a global organisation
• Exposure to AI-assisted software development, AI observability, explainability and responsible AI tooling
• Experience supporting hybrid or distributed engineering teams at scale
• Background working within software, technology or climate tech organisations
