About the Role

We are seeking a highly capable and commercially minded Head of Engineering to lead the design, development, security, reliability and continued evolution of our technology platform.

This is a senior leadership role for an experienced engineering leader who can operate at both strategic and hands-on levels. The successful candidate will be responsible for owning the technical architecture, leading engineering execution, strengthening infrastructure and security, improving platform reliability, and supporting the companys future technology roadmap.

The role requires someone with strong software engineering capability, deep infrastructure and cloud experience, practical AI knowledge, and demonstrated experience operating business-critical, high-availability technology platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the companys engineering, infrastructure, DevOps and platform technology functions.
• Own the overall technical architecture and ensure it is scalable, secure, resilient and commercially practical.
• Manage software development, production systems, cloud infrastructure, integrations, APIs and deployment processes.
• Ensure platform uptime, performance, reliability, security and disaster recovery capability.
• Establish and enforce engineering standards across code quality, architecture, testing, documentation, security and release management.
• Lead internal developers, external development partners, infrastructure providers and technical vendors.
• Manage production incidents, root-cause analysis, preventative controls and operational improvements.
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, monitoring, logging and observability.
• Oversee database architecture, performance, backup, replication and recovery.
• Identify, evaluate and implement AI, automation and emerging technology opportunities.
• Support product development by converting business requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Recruit, mentor and develop a high-performing engineering team.
• Provide clear technical advice to senior management and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ensure the technology platform can scale reliably as the business grows.

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience in a senior engineering leadership role such as Head of Engineering, Engineering Manager, Technical Lead, Solutions Architect, VP Engineering or similar.
• Strong hands-on software engineering experience and the ability to challenge technical decisions.
• Strong understanding of application architecture, distributed systems, APIs, microservices and modern software development practices.
• Demonstrated experience managing production server environments, cloud infrastructure and enterprise technology platforms.
• Experience operating high-availability systems where downtime, data loss or performance issues materially affect customers or business operations.
• Strong understanding of redundancy, failover, load balancing, disaster recovery, backup strategy and business continuity.
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, virtual machines, networking, DNS, firewalls, VPNs, SSL/TLS and server security.
• Experience with Linux and/or Windows Server administration.
• Strong DevOps experience, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, containerisation and deployment management.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform or equivalent infrastructure and orchestration technologies.
• Strong knowledge of SQL databases, database optimisation, replication, backup and recovery.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity, identity and access management, encryption, vulnerability management, logging and incident response.
• Experience with monitoring, observability, application performance management and incident management.
• Experience defining and managing SLAs, SLOs, uptime targets, infrastructure capacity and operational performance metrics.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle management, including source control, testing, code review, release management and production deployment.
• Proven ability to manage multiple engineering priorities, including product development, infrastructure, technical debt and operational reliability.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical matters to business stakeholders.

AI and Emerging Technology

The successful candidate should have a practical understanding of AI and emerging technology, including:

• Generative AI and Large Language Models.
• AI APIs and model integration.
• AI-assisted software development.
• Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG).
• AI agents and intelligent workflow automation.
• Data governance, privacy and security for AI applications.
• AI infrastructure, latency, cost, reliability and scalability considerations.
• Commercial evaluation of emerging technologies for real-world enterprise deployment.

Experience integrating AI APIs, automation, AI agents or intelligent workflows into production software will be highly regarded.

Enterprise Systems and Platform Reliability

The successful candidate must have experience with mission-critical production systems, including:

• 24/7 production environments.
• Redundant and fault-tolerant architecture.
• Automated monitoring and alerting.
• Disaster recovery and tested backup procedures.
• Database replication and high availability.
• Horizontal and vertical infrastructure scaling.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent substantial industry experience.
• 9+ years of experience in software engineering, infrastructure, cloud or technology roles.
• 5+ years of experience leading engineering or technical teams.
• Demonstrated experience operating enterprise-scale, high-availability or business-critical platforms.
• Cloud, cybersecurity, architecture, DevOps or infrastructure certifications will be viewed favourably.
• Experience in healthcare, fintech, SaaS, enterprise software or another regulated or mission-critical environment will be highly regarded.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a senior technology leader who is technically strong, commercially practical and delivery-focused. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with senior management, product teams, developers, vendors and infrastructure providers.

This role is suited to someone who can lead engineering strategy while remaining sufficiently hands-on to understand the codebase, review architecture, resolve critical incidents and hold technical teams accountable.

The candidate must be based in Hyderabad or willing to work from Hyderabad. The role will be onsite / hybrid depending on business requirements.
