Engineering Director – India
The Engineering Director, India will lead the end-to-end software delivery lifecycle across the region, ensuring our teams deliver with clarity, quality, and pace. You will be hands‑on in engineering management — owning resourcing, delivery frameworks, and SDLC processes.
This is a highly visible role: you will represent engineering within the India region, partner with Delivery Management, Product Management, Product Design, Solution Architecture, and Technical Operations squads to shape cross‑capability ways of working, and contribute to the global approach to ensure our engineering practice is aligned worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Raise, mentor and scale the India engineering team, building and retaining a high‑performing squad, including recruitment and onboarding of new team members. Promote a culture of innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Proactively plan and manage resourcing within India, jointly own cross‑regional resourcing strategies with EMEA and ANZ to ensure the right skills and capacity are deployed globally.
- Mentor and develop engineering leaders and managers in the region, embedding progression frameworks, career pathways, and structured feedback.
- Play an active role in shaping the wider global engineering capability, ensuring consistency and excellence across all regions.
- Own the engineering SDLC across India projects, implementing consistent delivery processes that drive quality and predictability.
- Oversee QA and release management standards across India builds, while also helping define global standards that ensure scalability and interoperability across regional builds.
- Drive continuous improvement, using feedback and performance insights to evolve ways of working regionally and globally.
- Maintain a visible and accessible leadership presence, fostering strong relationships and encouraging face‑to‑face collaboration that strengthens team connection, trust, and delivery outcomes.
- Shape effective cross‑squad delivery models within India and co‑develop global operating models with EMEA, ANZ, and India, ensuring teams work seamlessly across geographies.
- Ensure upward visibility for leadership and downward clarity for teams on priorities, outcomes, and decisions.
Technical Oversight & Standards
- Provide governance on technical standards and architectural approaches, ensuring the India team are executing brilliantly and in line with the direction of Architects and Tech Leads.
- Champion scalable, reusable approaches to accelerate delivery.
- Champion and play a substantial role in global adoption of AI and modern engineering tools that improve developer experience and productivity.
- Ensure India’s engineering workflows are integrated and optimised, positioning them as a global delivery hub aligned with EMEA and ANZ.

Skills & Attributes – Must‑Haves
- Proven senior leadership experience in engineering management at scale, including experience of a multi‑region operating model.
- Hands‑on ownership of SDLC, delivery processes, resourcing, team/talent management.
- Excellent communication abilities, capable of leading and inspiring teams, and engaging effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in the digital engineering space, developing customer/ fan‑facing solutions at scale.
- Leads by example – visibly demonstrating the high‑performance tone, culture and behaviour you expect your team to follow.
Nice‑to‑Haves
- Technical background in architecture or coding ideally including modern programming languages, frameworks, cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), and an understanding of CMS, Identity Solutions, Video, CRM, and e‑commerce strategies.
- Familiarity with sports & entertainment.
- Recent experience working in agency or service‑based organisations.
- Experience working in both startup‑style and enterprise‑scale environments.
- Previous experience building or working in Global Capability Centres or India‑based global delivery hubs.
- Interest in AI‑enabled development practices.
