Experience
  • 10–15+ years of relevant experience in teaching, research, and/or industry
  • Prior experience in academic leadership, preferably as HOD, Professor, Program Head, Dean, or equivalent role
  • Strong experience in Pharmaceutical Management, Healthcare Management, Pharmacy, Management, or allied disciplines
  • Proven academic and research experience with publications in reputed journals
  • Industry experience in the Pharmaceutical or Healthcare sector will be preferred
  • Experience in academic administration, curriculum development, industry collaborations, and student placements will be an added advantage
Education
  • Ph.D. in Management, Pharmaceutical Management, Pharmacy, or an Allied Discipline
  • MBA in Pharmaceutical Management, Healthcare Management, or a relevant specialization
  • Qualifications and experience should be as per applicable UGC / AICTE / PCI norms

Role Summary

The Head of Department (HOD) & Professor – MBA Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Management will provide academic and strategic leadership for the MBA Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Management program at Indira University’s School of Pharmacy. The role will be responsible for academic planning, teaching, research, faculty development, industry engagement, student mentoring, placements, and overall program development.

The position requires a strong academic and research orientation, combined with leadership capabilities and an understanding of the Pharmaceutical and Healthcare sectors. The HOD & Professor will work closely with University leadership, faculty members, students, industry partners, and other stakeholders to enhance the quality, visibility, and outcomes of the program.

Roles and Responsibilities
Academic Leadership & Program Management
  • Lead and manage the MBA Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Management program
  • Develop and implement academic plans in alignment with University objectives and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure effective delivery of curriculum, teaching, assessments, and academic activities
  • Contribute to curriculum development and periodic revision based on industry and academic trends
  • Ensure compliance with applicable UGC / AICTE / PCI norms and University policies
  • Monitor academic performance and continuously work toward improving program quality
Teaching & Student Development
  • Deliver high-quality lectures and academic sessions in relevant areas of Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Management
  • Mentor and guide students in academic, professional, and career-related matters
  • Encourage experiential learning, case studies, projects, internships, and industry-oriented learning
  • Support students in developing managerial, analytical, communication, and leadership competencies
  • Promote a strong culture of academic excellence and professional development
Research & Publications
  • Lead and contribute to high-quality research activities in Management, Pharmaceutical Management, Healthcare Management, Pharmacy, or allied disciplines
  • Publish research papers in reputed national and international journals
  • Encourage faculty and students to undertake research projects and publications
  • Develop research collaborations with academic institutions, industry, healthcare organizations, and research bodies
  • Support faculty members in securing research projects, consultancy opportunities, and other academic engagements
Faculty Leadership & Development
  • Lead, mentor, and support faculty members within the department
  • Participate in faculty recruitment, induction, performance evaluation, and development initiatives
  • Encourage faculty members to pursue research, publications, FDPs, conferences, and professional development activities
  • Allocate teaching and academic responsibilities effectively
  • Foster a collaborative, innovative, and high-performance academic environment
Industry Collaboration & Placements
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, Hospital, Consulting, and allied industry organizations
  • Establish industry-academia collaborations, MoUs, guest lectures, internships, live projects, and corporate engagement initiatives
  • Facilitate industry exposure and experiential learning opportunities for students
  • Support the University’s placement initiatives and strengthen industry networks for student recruitment
  • Identify emerging industry requirements and align academic offerings accordingly
Academic Administration & Compliance
  • Coordinate departmental academic activities, meetings, examinations, assessments, and documentation
  • Ensure adherence to University academic policies and applicable regulatory guidelines
  • Maintain academic records, reports, and departmental documentation
  • Participate in academic committees and institutional quality initiatives
  • Support accreditation, ranking, inspection, and regulatory processes as required
Strategic Development & Institutional Growth
  • Develop strategies to enhance the visibility and reputation of the MBA Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Management program
  • Identify emerging opportunities in Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Management education
  • Contribute to student admissions, program promotion, and institutional outreach activities
  • Introduce innovative teaching methodologies, industry practices, and emerging areas of specialization
  • Support the University leadership in achieving academic, research, placement, and institutional development goals
Stakeholder Engagement & Representation
  • Represent the School of Pharmacy and the University in academic, industry, and professional forums
  • Build strong relationships with academic institutions, industry professionals, healthcare organizations, and professional bodies
  • Organize and participate in conferences, seminars, workshops, FDPs, and industry events
  • Promote the University’s academic and research initiatives through professional networks
Reporting & Performance Tracking
  • Prepare periodic reports on academic performance, research activities, faculty development, industry collaborations, and placements
  • Monitor departmental goals and key performance indicators
  • Analyze academic and institutional data to identify areas for improvement
  • Provide regular updates and recommendations to University leadership
