Job summary

The Krishna Institute Of Medical Sciences is seeking a Pharmacy Operations Head to supervise daily hospital pharmacy activities, ensuring compliance, budgeting, and staff management.

You will collaborate with clinical departments to ensure safe medication practices, manage inventory including cold chain items, and implement SOPs. Prior NABH experience is preferred, and registration with the State Pharmacy Council is required.

Qualifications

  • B.Pharmacy or M.Pharmacy with MBA and state council registration.
  • 15–20 years hospital pharmacy experience with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
  • Prior NABH-accredited hospital experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee procurement, storage, distribution, and dispensing of medicines.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements including FDA norms, Pharmacy Act, and hospital policies.
  • Supervise and guide pharmacy staff including pharmacists, pharmacy assistants.
  • Monitor and manage drug inventory, expiry, and ensure availability of essential medicines at all times.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with pharmaceutical vendors and suppliers.
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for pharmacy operations.
  • Conduct audits to ensure medication safety, quality control, and stock accuracy.
  • Review prescriptions for accuracy, proper dosage, drug interactions, and patient safety.
  • Ensure compliance to proper handling, control and timely disposition of rejections and expiry medicines.
  • Understanding requirements of doctors, nurses and other departments and fulfil the same within specified time, through proper planning, organizing and coordinating
  • Ensure appropriate storage and handling of medications, including cold chain items.
  • Keep records of controlled substances as per regulatory requirements.
  • Training to the people on the system and procedures for effective implementation and to enhance performance levels of individuals and capacity building programs for pharmacy staff.
  • Keeping track of changes applicable in regulatory/statutory requirements and meeting them.
  • Optimum utilization of storage space, manpower and available resources through proper planning.
  • Provide reports to hospital administration regarding stock usage, procurement, and budgeting.
  • Contribute to NABH other accreditation processes related to pharmacy services.
  • Ensure compliance of dispatch of scrap from all type of process from beginning to end process

Job Summary:

The Pharmacy operations head is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the hospital pharmacy. Qualifications and Experience:


  • B.Pharmacy / M.Pharmacy & MBA from a recognized university; registration with State Pharmacy Council is mandatory.

  • Minimum 15-20 years of experience in a hospital pharmacy, with at least 5+ years in a managerial role.

  • Prior experience in a NABH-accredited hospital.

  • In-depth knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations and drug management systems.

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.

  • Familiarity with hospital information systems (HIS) and pharmacy management software.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Good communication skills and attention to detail.
