Job Description Head Logistics & Warehousing

Function: Supply Chain / Operations

Reporting To: Head of Operations

Role Purpose

The Head Logistics & Warehousing will be responsible for leading the end-to-end logistics operations for Vision RX (Domestic Business Division), covering import logistics, customs clearance coordination, domestic transportation, distribution network management, and warehousing operations across a nationwide network of 50 sites comprising factories and warehouses.

The role will ensure seamless movement of raw materials from global suppliers to manufacturing locations, efficient distribution of finished goods to customers and channel partners, and high service levels across the supply chain. The incumbent will drive logistics excellence, cost optimization, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement while managing external logistics partners and internal delivery resources.

Key Responsibilities

Logistics & Transportation Management

• Lead end-to-end inbound and outbound logistics operations across India.
• Manage import logistics including coordination with freight forwarders, customs clearing agents, shipping lines, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely clearance and availability of imported materials.
• Develop and execute transportation strategies to ensure timely movement of materials between suppliers, factories, warehouses, distributors, customers, and ECPs through freight forwarders, couriers & through a network of company’s own delivery boys.
• Drive optimization of transportation routes, freight costs, transit times, & service levels
• Manage and monitor performance of freight forwarders, courier partners, and logistics service providers through defined SLA and KPI frameworks.
• Lead logistics escalation management for critical customer deliveries & business needs

Distribution Network Management

• Oversee logistics operations across 10 manufacturing facilities & 40 distribution sites
• Ensure efficient inventory flow across the network to maintain desired service levels
• Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Planning, Procurement, Customer Service, Sales, and Finance teams to support business growth and customer commitments.

Warehousing Operations

• Provide governance and operational oversight for warehouse operations including receiving, storage, inventory management, picking, packing, and dispatch activities.
• Drive inventory accuracy, process compliance, productivity, and operational discipline across all warehouse locations.
• Support implementation of warehouse process improvements, digitization, and best practices to enhance efficiency.

Cost & Performance Management

• Drive logistics and distribution cost optimization initiatives without compromising customer service.
• Monitor logistics budgets, freight costs, warehouse operating expenses, and productivity metrics.
• Identify opportunities for network optimization, vendor rationalization, automation, and process improvements.
• Establish performance dashboards & review mechanisms for continuous improvement.

Compliance, Safety & Governance

• Ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory, customs, transportation, and company requirements.
• Promote safe transportation, material handling, and warehouse practices
• Establish robust SOPs, controls, and audit mechanisms across logistics operations.

Team Leadership

• Lead, coach, and develop logistics and warehouse teams across the network.
• Manage logistics partners, warehouse teams, and the internal delivery fleet.
• Foster a culture of accountability, customer focus, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, or related field.
• MBA or Postgraduate qualification in Supply Chain/Operations preferred.
• 12-18 years of experience in logistics, transportation, distribution, or supply chain operations.
• Proven experience managing distribution networks & multi-location logistics operations
• Strong exposure to import logistics, customs clearance processes, freight management, and transportation operations.
• Experience in manufacturing, healthcare, FMCG, consumer products, or similar distribution-intensive environments preferred.
