Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the overall IT Infrastructure strategy in line with business requirements.
  • Manage and maintain servers, storage, LAN/WAN, VPN, firewalls, switches, routers, and related infrastructure.
  • Ensure maximum availability and optimum performance of critical IT systems.
  • Establish IT infrastructure standards, policies, SOPs, and documentation.

Job description

1. Job Purpose

The Head IT Infrastructure will be responsible for planning, implementing, managing, securing, and continuously improving the organization’s complete IT infrastructure.


The position will ensure reliable, secure, scalable, and uninterrupted IT services across the corporate office, project offices, and remote project sites. The incumbent will lead the IT infrastructure team and oversee networks, servers, cloud services, cybersecurity, data backup, disaster recovery, IT assets, end-user support, and IT vendors.


2. Key Responsibilities

A. IT Infrastructure Management


  • Develop and implement the overall IT Infrastructure strategy in line with business requirements.

  • Manage and maintain servers, storage, LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, firewalls, switches, routers, and related infrastructure.

  • Ensure maximum availability and optimum performance of critical IT systems.

  • Establish IT infrastructure standards, policies, SOPs, and documentation.

  • Plan infrastructure capacity, technology upgrades, replacement, and scalability.

  • Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and cost optimization.


B. Network & Connectivity


  • Manage IT network infrastructure for corporate offices, project offices, and remote locations.

  • Ensure reliable internet, leased-line, WAN, VPN, and remote-site connectivity.

  • Monitor network performance and resolve connectivity issues proactively.

  • Implement appropriate redundancy and failover mechanisms.

  • Ensure secure communication between corporate and project locations.


C. Servers, Cloud & Data Centre


  • Manage physical and virtual servers, storage, virtualization platforms, and data-centre infrastructure.

  • Oversee cloud infrastructure and cloud-based IT services.

  • Ensure proper server capacity, availability, performance, and security.

  • Manage server configuration, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle.

  • Maintain proper documentation of infrastructure architecture and configurations.


D. Cybersecurity & IT Risk Management


  • Establish and implement IT security policies, standards, and controls.

  • Manage firewalls, endpoint security, antivirus/EDR, VPN, access control, email security, and vulnerability management.

  • Ensure timely patching and security updates across IT infrastructure.

  • Protect company systems and data against unauthorized access, malware, ransomware, and cyber threats.

  • Conduct periodic security reviews and coordinate with external agencies for security audits where required.

  • Ensure appropriate user access, password policies, and data-security practices.


E. Backup, Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity


  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive backup strategy for critical business data.

  • Ensure regular backup monitoring and periodic restoration testing.

  • Develop and maintain Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plans.

  • Conduct periodic DR drills and ensure readiness for critical system recovery.

  • Minimize business disruption arising from infrastructure failures or cyber incidents.


F. IT Support & Service Management


  • Lead the IT infrastructure and helpdesk/support functions.

  • Ensure timely resolution of hardware, software, network, and system-related issues.

  • Establish IT service standards and monitor SLA performance.

  • Implement preventive maintenance and proactive monitoring.

  • Improve overall employee experience through responsive and reliable IT services.


G. Project Sites & Remote Locations


  • Plan and ensure IT infrastructure readiness for new project sites and offices.

  • Coordinate deployment of network, internet connectivity, CCTV, access control, communication systems, computers, and other IT infrastructure.

  • Provide centralized IT support to geographically distributed project locations.

  • Coordinate with Project, Engineering, Administration, and Procurement teams for timely IT deployment.

  • Ensure IT infrastructure is established within project timelines and approved budgets.


H. IT Asset & Vendor Management


  • Maintain accurate inventory of IT hardware, software, licenses, network equipment, and other assets.

  • Develop IT asset lifecycle and replacement plans.

  • Manage AMC, warranty, licenses, subscriptions, and service contracts.

  • Manage IT vendors and service providers and ensure SLA compliance.

  • Evaluate new technologies and vendors based on business requirements.

  • Negotiate with vendors for competitive pricing and improved service quality.


I. Team Leadership


  • Lead, guide, and develop the IT Infrastructure and Support team.

  • Define responsibilities, KPIs, performance objectives, and service standards.

  • Build a technically competent and responsive IT team.

  • Encourage documentation, knowledge sharing, process improvement, and best practices.

  • Ensure adequate manpower and technical support for corporate and project locations.

4. Educational Qualification


  • Engineering Graduate (B.E./B.Tech) from a recognized university/institute is mandatory.

  • Preferred engineering disciplines: Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering disciplines.

  • Postgraduate qualification such as M.Tech, MBA, MCA, or equivalent will be an added advantage.

  • Professional certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, MCSE, ITIL, CISSP, CISM, AWS, Azure, VMware, or equivalent will be preferred.


5. Experience & Technical Competencies


  • 10–15+ years of relevant experience in IT Infrastructure / IT Operations, with proven experience in a leadership role.

  • Candidates should preferably have experience in Engineering, EPC, Infrastructure, Construction, Manufacturing, or project-based organizations.

  • Experience managing IT infrastructure across multiple offices, project sites, plants, or remote locations will be highly preferred.

  • Strong experience in enterprise networking, servers, virtualization, cloud, cybersecurity, IT operations, backup, and disaster recovery.

  • Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, VPN, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, firewalls, and Wi-Fi.

  • Good knowledge of Windows/Linux server environments.

  • Experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or other cloud platforms.

  • Knowledge of virtualization, storage, backup, disaster recovery, and monitoring solutions.

  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity, endpoint protection, identity and access management, and IT risk.

  • Experience in IT budgeting, procurement, vendor management, AMC management, SLA management, and contract negotiations.

  • Strong understanding of IT policies, SOPs, documentation, compliance, and service management.

8. Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be an Engineering Graduate with 10–15+ years of relevant IT Infrastructure experience, preferably from an Engineering, EPC, Construction, Infrastructure, or Manufacturing organization.


The candidate should have strong experience in managing enterprise IT infrastructure, networks, servers, cybersecurity, cloud, backup/DR, IT assets, vendors, and multi-location/project-site IT operations, along with the leadership capability to build and manage a professional IT function.


9. Role Summary

The Head – IT Infrastructure will be a key technology leadership position responsible for ensuring that Jindal Projects & Engineers operates with a secure, reliable, scalable, and business-ready IT infrastructure across its corporate and project operations.


The incumbent will drive IT infrastructure reliability, cybersecurity, technology modernization, service delivery, cost optimization, and business continuity while providing effective IT support to all locations.
