Role Overview

We are looking for a delivery-focused operations leader to own and grow the organisation's relationships and new programme initiatives. This role sits at the intersection of senior stakeholder management, programme delivery, and impact reporting, and requires someone equally comfortable in the utility control room and the boardroom.

Location: Gurugram

Key Responsibilities

• Own the senior relationship with the top leadership of two distribution utility partners, acting as the primary and trusted point of contact for both.
• Identify emerging priorities within each utility's operating environm ent and translate them into new, fundable programme initiatives.
• Represent the organisation in front of a global energy-sector alliance partner, ensuring utility-level priorities and partner expectations stay aligned.
• Oversee end-to-end delivery of active initiatives across both utility environments, from scoping and design through implementation and close-out.
• Own programme reporting and impact measurement across the full portfolio, ensuring outcomes are tracked consistently and credibly across two parallel utility contexts.
• Manage and support a programme manager based in the second utility geography, coordinating execution and maintaining delivery standards across both locations.
• Convene and lead stakeholder workshops with utility leadership and technical teams to validate priorities, pressure-test new ideas, and secure buy-in.
• Coordinate technical, financial, and impact inputs from internal teams to build compelling initiative proposals and briefing materials for senior utility and partner audiences.
• Track regulatory, technological, and operational developments across both state contexts to keep the initiative pipeline current and relevant.

Requirements, Qualifications & Skills

Technical Knowledge & Sector Expertise

• Solid working knowledge of how power distribution utilities operate-organisational structure, tariff and revenue mechanics, loss reduction, and typical operational pain points.
• Familiarity with grid modernisation and digital utility technologies such as smart/AMI metering, SCADA, ADMS/DERMS, GIS-based asset mapping, and data-driven grid analytics.
• Working understanding of renewable energy integration at the distribution level, including open access, demand-side flexibility, and battery energy storage use cases.
• Awareness of the regulatory and institutional landscape governing state-level power utilities, and how utility leadership decisions are shaped by it.
• Ability to translate technical and regulatory context into clear, fundable programme concepts that a utility CMD's office and an external funding partner can both act on.
• Comfort managing grant-or partnership-style programme mechanics-budgeting, milestone tracking, compliance, and structured reporting against agreed workplans.

Experience & Professional Profile

• A track record of genuine, hands‑on delivery‑either from within a utility, grid operator, or infrastructure operating environment, or from a consulting background where the individual has since moved into an operating or implementation role.
• Note: this is an execution-focused mandate; candidates currently working in an active, ongoing advisory or consulting capacity (without a demonstrated transition into an operating role) will not meet the experience bar for this position.
• Demonstrated experience managing relationships with senior leadership (CXO/CMD level or equivalent) in a utility, infrastructure, or public‑sector setting.
• Experience successfully running more than one significant stakeholder relationship or geography in parallel, without loss of quality or responsiveness in either.
• Prior people management experience, including managing a remote or geographically separated direct report.

Qualifications & Attributes

• 12-18 years of experience along with a Bachelors and/or Master's degree in engineering, energy/public policy, management, or a related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to shift register between utility engineers, C‑suite leadership, and external partner organisations.
• Strong relationship‑management instincts, with the judgement to represent the organisation credibly and consistently in high‑stakes external settings.
• Highly organised self‑starter, comfortable owning reporting and impact‑tracking discipline without close supervision.
• Collaborative, low‑ego working style; willing to travel frequently and spend meaningful time on‑site with utility partners.
