Qualifications

Project Manager
Electricity and Utilities at MP Ensystems Advisory Pvt. Ltd.

MP Ensystems Advisory Pvt. Ltd., established in 2012, is a niche energy and environmental sector consultancy headquartered in Mumbai with presence in multiple states in India. We provide analytical support to policy-making and deployment of sustainability solutions; primarily focusing on energy efficiency, renewable energy, clean transportation, agriculture, water conservation, circularity, clean finance and other related development sector topics. We work with governments, private sector clients, philanthropies, financial institutions, academia, and civil society organizations to design, implement and evaluate solutions that promote sustainability.

MP Ensystems works on aspects related to clean energy policy, technology assessments, programmatic interventions, business/revenue models and financing solutions at the individual project and corporate levels. Current and past projects deal with power sector policy analysis, greening of rural value chains in agriculture and fisheries sector, renewable energy storage solutions, demand-side management, power markets participation, clean mobility, energy access, energy efficiency and energy transition.

We are hiring a Project Manager, with 5 years’ experience in the power sector to work with our team, lead projects and create business opportunities related to the following activities:

Key Responsibilities

• The selected candidate will provide analytical support, evaluating the need for and usefulness of decarbonization of the power sector with specific emphasis on demand flexibility, renewables, utility scale and distributed assets deployed in industries, public utilities, buildings and agriculture post harvesting processes. The Project Manager is expected to build strong links with distribution companies and electricity regulatory commissions at the state and central levels, state energy planning, other line departments, industry associations and innovators including the start-up community and incubators.
• MP Ensystems works on aspects related to clean energy policy, tariff analysis, technology assessments, programmatic interventions, business/revenue models and financing solutions at the individual project and corporate levels. Current and past projects deal with demand flexibility, renewable energy storage solutions, utility-driven demand-side management, power markets participation, clean mobility, energy access, energy efficiency and energy transition.
• The Project Manager’s role would be to lead proposal development, execution of project deliverables, ensure on-time and within budget implementation, support client relationships and work with the team to execute implementation approaches supporting India’s sustainability goals. The candidate should have experience in electricity regulations, regulatory commissions workings, understanding of demand flexibility and demand side management regulations, smart grid regulations, tariff setting process, distribution sector and transmission sector reforms. The chosen candidates shall contribute to path-breaking and innovative design, implementation, and financing solutions.
• The Project Manager would also support the team in projects related to transportation electrification, EE and RE among rural enterprises and any other energy and environment sector related activity. The selected candidate shall also support activities within other regions in the global south.

Background and qualifications

• Master’s degree from reputed institutions in India and elsewhere in Energy, Regulatory policy and governance, Environment, Engineering, Economics or Management
• 5 years’ experience working in the electricity or energy sectors in regulatory/ discom operations; or research/ consulting experience; or experience at businesses involved in delivering clean energy or environmental services
• Candidates with experience of working directly with governments at the state and central levels preferred
• Hands on experience of analyzing and understanding aspects of policy and regulations related to power sector is preferable.
• Demonstrated experiences in managing projects, including overseeing budgets and meeting deadlines for project delivery
• Leadership skills to handle end-to-end projects related to energy, electricity, clean transport, knowledge resource in development sectors
• Self-starter, showing demonstrated interest in energy, environment, climate related topics
• Strong experience in proposal writing and business development efforts to secure new projects and build strong long-term relationships with stakeholders
• Proficient in data modelling, business plans, report creation and policy analysis
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Willingness to travel for about 35% of work months
• Preferred but not mandatory: certifications in energy auditing, energy management, measurement and verification; experienced in modelling techniques including power analysis and software such as Matlab; LEED certification; PMP certification
• Depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience, MP Ensystems may offer the role at Assistant Program Manager or Senior Program Manager level.
