Job summary

Supernova Engineers is seeking a Lead Engineer to head the Mechanical Engineering function for the Diesel Generator (DG) product portfolio. You will drive new product development, improvements, value engineering, and design standardization while ensuring performance, quality, cost, manufacturability, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 18–25 years of experience in mechanical product design and development; preferably in DG sets or related sectors.
• Proficiency in base frame, canopy, enclosure, and sheet metal design; fabrication techniques.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Mechanical Design & Product Development team.
• Drive end-to-end design of DG set mechanical systems including frames, canopies, tanks, and housings.
• Develop new products and improve existing ones for performance, reliability, and cost.
• Establish engineering standards, design guidelines, and modular platforms.
• Lead validation, testing, and design reviews for robust products.
• Drive value engineering, localization, and cost optimization.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Support manufacturing and supply chain in DFM, supplier development, and ECRs.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve issues and manage product lifecycle.
• Build and mentor a high-performing engineering team with culture of innovation.

Lead the Mechanical Engineering function for the company's Diesel Generator (DG) product portfolio. Role & responsibilities

• Lead the Mechanical Design & Product Development team.
• Drive end-to-end design and development of DG set mechanical systems, including base frames, canopies, fuel tanks, cooling systems, exhaust systems, mounting arrangements, acoustic enclosures and structural assemblies.
• Develop new products and enhance existing products for performance, reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, and cost competitiveness.
• Establish engineering standards, design guidelines, and modular product platforms.
• Lead product validation, testing, and design reviews to ensure robust and reliable products.
• Drive value engineering, localization, and cost optimization initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Support Manufacturing and Supply Chain in design for manufacturability, supplier development, and engineering change management.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and support product lifecycle management.
• Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
• 18 - 25 years of experience in mechanical product design and development, preferably in DG Sets, Engines, Power Generation, Heavy Equipment, or Industrial Machinery.
• Proficiency in base frame design, canopy design, enclosure design, sheet metal design, sheet metal working, fabrication techniques.
• Minimum 8 years in an engineering leadership role.
