Job summary

Swan Corp in Pipavav, Gujarat, seeks a seasoned Head of Consumables & Services Procurement to lead strategic and operational sourcing for shipyard projects, including shipbuilding, repair, refit and offshore fabrication. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, offshore fabrication, or heavy engineering procurement.
• MBA or advanced degree in procurement/SCM is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement strategies for consumables and services.
• Lead procurement of paints, welding consumables, fabrication materials and yard needs.
• Manage services procurement for fabrication, integration, outfitting, maintenance and ship repair.
• Plan and forecast requirements from BOM, project schedules, and production needs.
• Lead vendor development, supplier evaluation and relationships.
• Negotiate contracts, terms, and service agreements.
• Drive cost reduction, value engineering, and alternate sourcing.
• Oversee imports, LC terms and international sourcing where applicable.
• Monitor supplier performance using KPIs: on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness, cost.
• Establish multiple sources for critical materials to mitigate risk.
• Ensure compliance with policies, project specs, quality standards and regulations.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Production, Project Management, Finance, Commercial and Quality teams.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Head Consumables & Services Procurement to lead strategic and operational procurement activities for our shipyard operations at Pipavav, Gujarat. The role will be responsible for procuring consumables, services, yard materials ,, and subcontracted services supporting shipbuilding, ship repair, refit, and offshore fabrication projects.

The incumbent will drive strategic sourcing, vendor development, commercial negotiations, cost optimization, supplier performance, and procurement planning while ensuring timely availability of materials and services in line with project schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the procurement strategy for consumables and services in alignment with shipbuilding and project requirements.
• Lead procurement of paint, welding consumables, fabrication materials, maintenance consumables, and other yard requirements.
• Manage procurement of services related to fabrication, integration, outfitting, maintenance and ship repair activities.
• Plan and forecast procurement requirements based on BOM, project schedules and production requirements.
• Lead vendor development, supplier evaluation and supplier relationship management.
• Identify and develop reliable, technically qualified and cost-effective suppliers and subcontractors.
• Conduct commercial negotiations covering price, lead time, payment terms, contracts and service agreements.
• Drive cost reduction, value engineering and alternate sourcing initiatives without compromising quality.
• Manage imports, LC/payment terms and international sourcing wherever applicable.
• Monitor supplier performance through KPIs including on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness and cost competitiveness.
• Establish alternate/multiple sources for critical materials and services to minimize supply-chain risks.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with organizational policies, project specifications, quality standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate closely with Engineering, Production, Project Management, Finance, Commercial, and Quality teams.
• Lead and mentor teams responsible for services procurement, yard materials, vendor development, vendor management, and e-auctions.
• Drive e-auction and digital procurement initiatives to improve transparency and procurement efficiency.
• Develop contingency plans for supply-chain disruptions and mitigate procurement risks.
• Ensure proper documentation, audit trails, and compliance for procurement transactions.

Eligibility & Experience: Bachelor's

degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration,n or related discipline

• MBA in Procurement/Supply Chain Management is an added advantage.
• 12+ years of relevant experience in procurement/supply chain, preferably within shipbuilding, ship repair, offshore, heavy engineering, EPC, Oil & Gas or marine industries.
• Strong experience in consumables procurement, services procurement, vendor development, and contract management.
• Exposure to imports, LC payment terms, international sourcing, and supplier negotiations.
• Proven experience in leading and managing procurement teams.
