Hardware Testing Engineer JD, Job summary, Competent in preparing and executing test cases based on product requirement document and to achieve best product quality by simultaneous working in various projects.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Understand electronic product requirements to prepare test cases and execute them to validate product quality goals.
- Prepare test results with appropriate summary reports, follow test process and defect tracking using QMS tools.
- Support in doing bring‑up/debug testing of new products and support defects fixing root cause analysis.
- Perform board bring‑up tests, including power, analog, digital, mixed signal with embedded controller and power electronics circuitries.
- Validate both the Hardware and software support utility applications with test documentation.
- Operate internal lab environmental test chambers to perform design margin and reliability testing.
- Prepare test jigs and fixtures for product development test process.
- Test products for EMI / EMC pre‑compliance at third party labs and submit conformity reports.
- Support development team for test setup preparations and provide sustaining test support throughout the product life cycle.
- Maintain good organizational skills, multitasking on multiple development projects.
Preferred Skills and Knowledge Requirements
- Hands‑on experience on testing electronic products based on product requirements covering 100% test coverage using traceability matrix.
- Well versed with test and measuring equipment like DMM, oscilloscope, function generator, data loggers and frequency counters.
- Ability to work on instrument calibrations, test procedures, uncertainty estimations and accuracy calculations.
- Experienced in working with sensors such as thermocouples, RTDs and pressure sensors, etc.
- Ability to read and interpret component datasheets, PCB schematics and layout and troubleshooting of electronic boards.
- Experience with industry standard communication ports like USB, RS232, Ethernet, GPIB, UART, etc.
- Testing knowledge on wireless RF networks such as Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, etc.
- Knowledge about UL, CE, etc. certification standards and RoHS, REACH compliance.
- Experience in troubleshooting and ability to resolve issues during product development.
- Hands‑on experience with board rework and component soldering.
- Experience in working on component obsolescence, product sustenance and design enhancement projects.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills and good working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
- Additional skills – statistical data analysis, reliability testing tools, ISO process, instruments automation test tools.
Experience: 7 to 8 years in Electronics hardware testing.
Qualification: BE/B. Tech in EEE/ECE.
