Job summary

Copeland is seeking an embedded software test engineer to verify firmware and related software by crafting test scenarios, executing test procedures, and developing automation scripts. You will review requirements, perform both positive and negative testing, and contribute to test optimization across a global engineering team.

The role requires hands-on testing with 1–3 years in embedded software testing, familiarity with microcontrollers, and knowledge of digital/analog circuits.

Qualifications

• Expertise with software testing fundamentals.
• Experience with embedded systems testing in 1–3 year range.
• Familiarity with microcontroller interfaces and hardware-software integration.
• Knowledge of residential HVAC domain and related schematics is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review requirements and derive positive and negative test scenarios for explicit/implicit specs.
• Develop and execute test procedures/test cases based on identified scenarios.
• Develop and execute test scripts for automation.
• Perform white box testing where needed.
• Analyze/debug issues and support project milestones.

Job Description

• Review the requirements and come up with positive as well as negative test scenarios/headers to verify explicit as well as implicit product specifications
• Develop and execute test procedures/test cases based on identified test scenarios/headers
• Develop and execute test scripts for achieving planned test automation
• Perform white box testing wherever necessary
• Analyse/debug problems/issues faced during the project
• Assist seniors in test optimization efforts to arrive at optimum test scope
• Participate in advanced development on Test Automation
• Record and share technical knowledge and experience gained
• Follow organizations software testing processes and procedures
• Support seniors/leader to ensure that the project milestone deadlines are met
• Support development leader on estimation and risk identification for the assigned work
• Collaborate with global engineering teams for successful project completion

Skills Required

• Expertise with software testing fundamentals
• Good understanding of with 8/16/32 bit microcontrollers
• Experience with analog as well as digital electronic schematics, circuit boards, component datasheets
• Domain knowledge of residential HVAC systems.
• Sound analytical skills and debugging capabilities
• Excellent understanding of various wired protocols like UART, I2C, SPI,
• Familiarity with wireless protocols like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ZigBee, TCP/IP
• Experience with tools like Bugzilla, TestLink, ReviewBoard etc.
• Basic understanding of programming and languages like C, C++
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability of lateral thinking
• Experience with different sniffing tools will be preferred
• ISTQB Foundation certification will be preferred
• knowledge/Experience of LabVIEW will be an added advantage
