Job summary

Petrotec Retail Petroleum Equipment (india) is seeking a hardware engineer to develop and deliver high-quality hardware solutions. You will design architecture, schematics, and PCBs using Altium/Cicada, order materials, build prototypes, and validate them while maintaining release records.

You will lead the hardware team, plan tasks, coordinate with multi-location teams, and drive certifications like EMI/EMC at NABL labs. Occasional travel ~3 weeks/year is expected.

Qualifications

• Passion for hardware development.
• Experience in circuit design with 32-bit microcontrollers and multiple protocols.
• Ability to design JTAG/NVSRAM/RTC-based circuits and battery charging.
• Experience with EMI/EMC, surge/noise, and related certifications.
• Ability to reduce BOM cost and find alternate components.
• Experience in vendor creation, testing samples, and test reports.

Responsibilities

• Developing and delivering high-quality hardware solutions per requirements, timeline, and cost.
• Designing hardware architecture and drafting schematic and PCBs using Altium/Cicada.
• Ordering materials, building prototypes, validating, and maintaining records.
• Managing changes in circuits/PCBs/BOM/Gerber and releasing updates.
• Leading hardware team technically and operationally.
• Planning tasks, tracking delivery, and reporting progress.
• Maintaining design release records and versioning of schematics/PCBs/BOM.
• Creating and managing vendors, obtaining OEM/vendor support, and arranging demonstrations.
• Carrying out EMI/EMC and other certifications at NABL-approved labs (ARAI, SAMEER).
• Maintaining hardware setup, tools, and calibration status of instruments.
• Willingness to travel to factories/sites for ~3 weeks per year.
• Collaborating with multi-location teams (Mumbai, Gandhinagar, Portugal).

Job description

Role & responsibilities

• Developing and delivering the quality hardware solution as per requirements, timeline, and cost
• Designing the hardware architecture, drafting the schematic and PCBs using Altium/Cicada
• Ordering material, building the prototype, validating it, and maintaining the repository
• Managing the changes in existing circuit/PCB/BOM/Gerber and releasing it
• Leading the hardware team from front technically and operationally
• Plan the hardware teams tasks and delivery plan, track it, and report it
• Maintain design release records and versions of schematics, PCBs, BOM with its cost
• Create and manage vendors, get technical support from OEM/Vendor, arrange demonstrations
• Successfully carry out external certifications like EMC/EMI from NABL approved labs like ARAI
• Maintain the hardware setup, tools, and calibration status of instruments and optimize it.
• Candidate is expected to travel factory or any other site for company work for total @ 3 weeks / Year
• Candidate is expected to work with multi location teams (Mumbai, Gandhinagar, Portugal)

Required experience and skills

• Candidate should have a passion for hardware development
• Developing circuits using 32bit microcontrollers, protocols (CAN, RS485, I2C, Wi-Fi, Ethernet)
• Developing circuits using JTAG, NVSRAM, RTC, Batteries, LCD, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, solenoid valves
• Developing circuits using various sensors (photo, magnetic, RFiD, temperature, level)
• Experience of developing connection diagrams, wiring diagrams, test cases for product validation
• Experience in developing battery charging circuits for Lithium batteries
• Experience of developing circuits/PCBs complying to EMI/EMC, Surge, Noise etc.
• Experience of reducing BOM Cost, Developing alternate circuit for obsolete parts
• Experience in doing EMI/EMC, Surge, Temperature certifications at ERTL, ARAI, SAMEER
• Experience of job estimation, task planning, task delegation, tracking, reviewing, reporting
• Experience in project methods (V-model or agile), product development and life cycle mana
• Experience of testing the assembled boards using digital storage oscilloscope, multi-meter
• Experience in vendor creation, getting samples, testing samples, preparing test reports
• Communicator, Positive, CAN-DO approach, with a sense of responsibility
