Job description

Mechanon • Full-time • On-site in Bangalore
About Mechanon

Mechanon is a Dubai-based venture studio that builds and incubates businesses from the ground up, with teams across Bangalore, Dubai, London, and Dehradun.

We're not an agency, consultancy, or outsourcing company. We build and operate our own businesses, which means we need people who are comfortable creating something from scratch rather than maintaining something already established.

Our current focus is The Engine: a real-time intelligence platform for film and television production activity, think Bloomberg for the production industry.

We're pre-launch, and we think we've built something genuinely good. What we don't have yet is someone dedicated to getting it in front of the right people.

The Opportunity

We're hiring our first dedicated marketing hire.

This is a zero-to-one growth role.

You'll work directly with the founder to figure out how The Engine should reach its market, which channels are worth investing in, and what turns initial interest into engaged users and customers.

The goal is simple: build the acquisition engine that takes The Engine from pre-launch to a growing, measurable customer base.

You'll have a high degree of ownership. You'll help set the strategy, execute the work, measure the results and decide what to do next.

We have hypotheses about where the opportunities are. We don't need someone to simply execute them. We want someone who can look at the product, market and data and tell us where we're right, where we're wrong, and what we're missing.

What You'll Own

You'll have broad ownership across growth and marketing, with particular focus on:

1. Growth & Go-to-Market
  • Develop The Engine's initial growth and go-to-market strategy
  • Identify the channels most likely to drive acquisition and activation
  • Build and test campaigns rather than simply managing agencies or handing out briefs
  • Run experiments, measure results and double down on what works
  • Build the reporting and metrics needed to understand acquisition, activation, conversion and retention
2. Search, SEO & AI Discovery

This is an area we're particularly interested in.

  • Build our organic search strategy across traditional search and emerging AI/answer engines
  • Explore GEO and how products are discovered and cited through AI platforms
  • Identify opportunities for programmatic SEO using The Engine's proprietary production data
  • Turn data around productions, companies, people, locations and industry activity into useful, discoverable experiences

You don't need to be a specialist in every area of SEO. We care more about whether you understand how search works, can spot opportunities and can learn quickly.

3. Content, Lifecycle & Distribution
  • Build useful content from The Engine's data and product insights
  • Develop organic social around timely industry intelligence
  • Build email, WhatsApp and other lifecycle experiences
  • Experiment with different ways of turning product data into content people want to consume and share
  • Help establish how "The Engine" communicates with its market
4. Product Marketing, PR & Industry
  • Help define how "The Engine" is positioned as the product evolves
  • Identify opportunities for trade press, industry commentary, partnerships and proprietary data stories
  • Work with product and engineering when growth opportunities require new landing pages, product changes, data access or technical implementation
  • Bring customer and market insight back into product and positioning decisions

You won't be expected to be an expert in every channel.

We're looking for a strong growth marketer who can understand the bigger picture, execute independently and go deeper where the data shows an opportunity.

What We're Looking For
  • You've owned meaningful growth or marketing work for a SaaS, technology or digital product
  • You can show measurable impact on acquisition, revenue, activation, retention or another meaningful growth metric
  • You're comfortable moving between strategy and hands-on execution
  • You understand how channels such as search, content, lifecycle and distribution can work together
  • You have a strong instinct for what makes something rank, get discovered, get opened or get shared
  • You're curious about how AI is changing search and product discovery
  • You use data to decide what to do next rather than relying only on assumptions
  • You write clearly and communicate ideas simply
  • You're comfortable with ambiguity and figuring things out without being handed a playbook
  • You enjoy testing ideas, learning quickly and changing direction when the evidence says you should

You don't need to have built an entire marketing function before. You may have owned growth at a startup, led a major acquisition channel at a larger company, or been the person who consistently turned ideas into measurable results.

What matters is that you can think, execute and produce results.

Particularly Useful Experience
  • B2B or B2C SaaS products
  • SEO and programmatic SEO
  • GEO, AI search or answer-engine optimisation
  • Product-led growth
  • Lifecycle marketing and automation
  • Data-driven content or proprietary datasets
  • Subscription products, trials or paywalls
  • Marketing analytics, attribution and experimentation
  • Early-stage startups or zero-to-one products
  • Entertainment, media, film or television industry products
How We Work

We're a small team and deliberately operate with very little bureaucracy.

You'll work directly with the people building the product, make decisions quickly, test ideas and see the results of your work without navigating layers of approval.

There isn't a large marketing team waiting for you. You'll need to be comfortable being hands-on, particularly in the early stages.

As the business grows and channels prove themselves, you'll also have the opportunity to help determine what the marketing function should become and where additional people or resources are needed.

We value autonomy, clear thinking, direct communication and people who take responsibility for outcomes rather than simply completing tasks.

Location & Start

This is a fully on-site role in Bangalore. We're a small team and believe there is significant value in building together in person.

That said, if you're exceptional and based elsewhere in India, we don't want location alone to rule you out. Let's talk.

We're looking to hire as soon as we find the right person.

Compensation

9,500 - 12,500 GBP per year, anchored in GBP and paid locally in INR equivalent.

In addition, you'll receive:

  • 0.25% equity in The Engine, venture-specific and subject to standard vesting terms
  • Company performance bonus

This is an opportunity to join The Engine before launch and participate directly in the upside of what we're building.

Specific numbers and outcomes are much more interesting to us than marketing terminology.

We look forward to finding out more about you.
