Job summary

Chennai Radha Engineering Works (CREW) invites applications for a junior electrical technician to assist in the operation, inspection, and maintenance of electrical equipment in a thermal power plant. You will monitor motors, transformers, switchgear, and control panels, perform routine inspections, and help with preventive and breakdown maintenance under supervision.

Qualifications

• 0–1 year of relevant work experience.
• B.E./B.Tech (EEE) or Diploma in EE are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the operation, inspection, and maintenance of electrical equipment in the thermal power plant.
• Monitor electrical equipment such as motors, transformers, generators, switchgear, MCCs, control panels, and circuit breakers.
• Perform routine inspections and identify abnormal conditions such as overheating, unusual noise, vibration, or electrical faults.
• Support preventive and breakdown maintenance activities under the supervision of senior engineers.
• Take and record electrical parameters such as voltage, current, frequency, power factor, and temperature.
• Assist with motor and pump maintenance, cable inspection, and electrical panel maintenance.
• Follow LOTO (Lockout/Tagout), electrical safety, PPE, and plant safety procedures.
• Coordinate with operations and maintenance teams during equipment start-up, shutdown, and emergency situations.
• Maintain daily equipment logs, inspection reports, and maintenance records.
• Assist in troubleshooting electrical faults and restoring equipment safely.
• Ensure housekeeping and safety standards are maintained in the electrical work area.
