Job summary

Siemens Mobility is seeking an experienced engineer to lead GIS product testing and drive manufacturing quality initiatives from Aurangabad. You will oversee testing plans, equipment utilization, and KPI performance while coordinating with production, QA, engineering and logistics teams.

The role requires strong HV testing knowledge, FAT/inspection leadership, and the ability to drive continuous improvement through Lean methods and SAP-based digital manufacturing tools.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in GIS manufacturing, high-voltage testing, quality or production operations.
• Strong knowledge of GIS technology up to EHV/UHV voltage levels; high-voltage & partial discharge testing; FAT and customer inspection processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage routine testing activities of GIS products and ensure alignment with standards and customer specs.
• Coordinate production planning, workforce allocation, and capacity planning to meet delivery targets.
• Lead customer inspections and FAT for domestic and international customers; act as primary interface during FAT activities.

Job description

8+ Years of experience inTesting of product in GIS and Circuit Breakers.

Testing Operations Management

• Lead and manage routine testing activities of GIS products in accordance with applicable standards, customer specifications, and factory procedures.
• Develop and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly testing plans aligned with production schedules and business targets.
• Ensure availability and optimal utilization of testing equipment, tools, test bays, and manpower.
• Monitor testing throughput, turnaround time, and productivity KPIs to achieve operational objectives.

Production & Resource Planning

• Coordinate with Production, Quality, Engineering, Logistics, and Project Management teams to ensure smooth execution of testing activities.
• Plan workforce allocation and shift schedules to support production requirements.
• Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to maintain delivery commitments.
• Drive capacity planning and resource optimisation initiatives.

Customer Inspection & Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)

• Lead customer inspections and Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for domestic and international customers.
• Act as the primary interface between customers and the testing organization during FAT activities.
• Ensure timely closure of customer observations and technical queries.
• Support sales and project teams during customer visits and audits.

Technical Leadership

• Provide technical leadership for:
• oPower Frequency Tests
• oMechanical Operation Testing
• oGas Tightness Testing
• oHV Test Equipment Operation
• Support troubleshooting of test failures and implementation of corrective actions.
• Collaborate with R&D, Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve technical issues.

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with relevant standards and internal quality procedures.
• Maintain testing records, reports, calibration records, and quality documentation.
• Lead internal and external audits and ensure closure of audit findings.
• Drive process standardization and best practices across testing operations.
• Lead a team of test engineers, supervisors, technicians, and operators.
• Conduct regular operational reviews, safety meetings, and performance discussions.
• Develop employee competencies through training, coaching, and mentoring.
• Maintain skill matrices, succession plans, and development programs.

Safety & Laboratory Management'

• Ensure compliance with all EHS requirements within the testing area.
• Promote safe operation of high-voltage testing equipment and SF6 handling systems.
• Lead risk assessments, safety observations, and incident investigations.
• Maintain 5S standards and workplace organization.
• Lead Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and digitalization initiatives within testing operations.
• Monitor KPIs and implement actions to improve productivity, quality, safety, and cost performance.
• Drive automation and process improvement projects to enhance testing efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• B.E./B. Tech in Electrical Engineering.
• 8+years of experience in GIS manufacturing, high-voltage testing, quality, or production operations.
• Strong knowledge of:
• oGIS technology up to EHV/UHV voltage levels
• oHigh-voltage and partial discharge testing
• oSF6 insulated switchgear
• oFAT and customer inspection processes
• oManufacturing quality systems
• oLean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement

Skill sets:

• Experience managing testing laboratories for GIS products up to 420 kV / 800 kV / 1200 kV.
• Knowledge of SAP and digital manufacturing systems.
• Experience handling international customer inspections and audits.
