Job summary

Cognizant in India is seeking a skilled IBM i (AS/400) developer to design, implement, test, and maintain backend systems for digital banking platforms. You will work with RPG IV, ILE RPG, and SQLRPGLE to deliver robust solutions, while participating in code reviews and mentoring junior teammates.

You'll analyze business requirements, create database objects, and ensure changes are properly versioned and documented within a collaborative, governance-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Proficient in IBM i (AS/400) development using RPG IV, ILE RPG, and SQLRPGLE.
• Experience with RPG programming techniques: fixed and free format, CLLE.
• Ability to analyze business requirements and translate into technical solutions.
• Experience creating and maintaining database objects (PFs, LFs, SQL tables, views, indexes).
• Strong debugging skills using STRDBG and interpreting job logs.
• Familiarity with source control and change management processes.

Design, develop, test, and maintain applications on the IBM i (AS400) platform.

Develop and enhance programs using RPG IV, ILE RPG, Free-Format RPG, Fixed format RPG ,CLLE, and SQLRPGLE.

Analyze business requirements and provide technical solutions.

Create and maintain database objects, including Physical Files, Logical Files, SQL Tables, Views, and Indexes.

Develop and maintain batch, online, and interface programs.

Perform unit testing and integration testing.

Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards.

Prepare technical design documents and support documentation.

Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance.

Experience with debugging tools such as STRDBG and job logs.

Familiarity with source control and change management tools.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
