Job summary

GIVA in Jaipur seeks a seasoned Head of Production to lead the silver manufacturing unit, ensuring safe, efficient operations, quality, and cost control.

You will oversee casting, rolling, finishing, plating, and compliance with BIS hallmarking, drive productivity, manage a diverse team of artisans, and coordinate with sales, design, and export teams to meet orders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Diploma in Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering (MBA a plus).
• 10–15+ years in precious metal/jewelry manufacturing with 5+ years in leadership.
• Hands-on experience with silver casting, rolling, and finishing processes.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and oversee day-to-day manufacturing operations (casting, rolling, drawing, stamping, polishing, plating).
• Set and monitor production targets, schedules, and quality benchmarks.
• Optimize processes to reduce silver wastage and improve yield.
• Ensure timely order fulfilment in coordination with sales and dispatch teams.
• Ensure adherence to purity standards (925 silver, BIS hallmarking).
• Implement quality checks at each production stage; minimize rework and complaints.
• Manage production staff, supervisors, and karigars; plan manpower and shifts.
• Oversee raw silver procurement, stock reconciliation, and scrap control.
• Coordinate with melting/refining for silver recovery from scrap.
• Maintain records for audits and compliance.
• Control costs, downtime, energy; prepare budgets; identify automation opportunities.

Job Purpose

Lead and oversee all production operations of the silver manufacturing unit, ensuring efficient, safe, and quality-driven output while optimizing costs, resources, and compliance with regulatory and hallmarking standards.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Operations

• Plan, organize, and oversee day-to-day manufacturing operations (casting, rolling, drawing, stamping, polishing, plating, etc.)
• Set and monitor production targets, schedules, and output quality benchmarks
• Optimize manufacturing processes to reduce wastage of silver and improve yield/recovery rates
• Ensure timely order fulfilment in coordination with sales and dispatch teams

Quality Control

• Ensure adherence to purity standards (e.g., 925 sterling silver, BIS hallmarking norms)
• Implement quality checks at each production stage
• Minimize rejections, rework, and customer complaints

Team & Resource Management

• Manage production staff, supervisors, and karigars (artisans)
• Plan manpower allocation, shift schedules, and skill development
• Drive productivity improvement and workforce discipline

Inventory & Material Management

• Oversee raw silver procurement planning, stock reconciliation, and scrap/wastage control
• Coordinate with the melting/refining department for recovery of silver from scrap
• Maintain accurate records of metal input-output (critical for audit and compliance)

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure compliance with BIS, hallmarking, and other statutory regulations
• Implement safety protocols for handling precious metals, chemicals, and machinery
• Maintain documentation for audits (internal, BIS, and financial)

Cost & Budget Management

• Control production costs, machine downtime, and energy consumption
• Prepare production budgets and monitor cost-per-unit metrics
• Identify opportunities for automation and process efficiency

Coordination

• Liaise with design, sales, and export teams for order specifications
• Coordinate with vendors for tools, dies, machinery maintenance
• Report production KPIs to top management regularly
• Strong knowledge of silver/precious metal manufacturing processes
• Understanding of purity testing, hallmarking, and metal recovery
• Leadership and team management skills
