About the Opportunity:

We are seeking an accomplished General Manager – Production for a leading export-oriented aerospace precision manufacturing organization in Chennai.

This senior leadership role will oversee end-to-end production operations across three manufacturing units, driving operational excellence, production efficiency, quality, cost optimization and on-time delivery within an AS9100 Rev D-certified environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Production Leadership: Lead multi-unit manufacturing operations, including CNC precision machining, gear manufacturing and associated production processes.
• Planning & Execution: Drive production scheduling, capacity planning, resource optimisation and delivery performance.
• Operational Excellence: Improve OEE, cycle time, throughput and productivity while reducing scrap, rework and manufacturing costs.
• Quality & Compliance: Ensure adherence to AS9100 Rev D standards, FAI, traceability, process controls, EHS and applicable statutory requirements.
• People Leadership: Manage large shop-floor teams, strengthen workforce capability and drive performance accountability.
• Strategic Leadership: Lead continuous improvement, automation and manufacturing efficiency initiatives, with regular operational reporting to senior management.

Mandatory Requirements:

• 18–25 years of manufacturing experience, with proven production leadership at DGM / GM level or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years of direct aerospace manufacturing experience in an AS9100-certified facility.
• Minimum 8 years of production planning experience, including scheduling, capacity planning and execution.
• Hands‑on expertise in aerospace precision machining, gears, precision components or aerospace fasteners.
• Strong experience managing large production teams and delivering measurable improvements in OEE, productivity, quality and on‑time delivery.
• B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production or Industrial Engineering.

Preferred Expertise:

• Gear manufacturing processes (hobbing, shaping, grinding) and heat treatment.
• Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM and automation initiatives.
• Knowledge of ITAR / EAR export controls and SEZ / EOU compliance.
• Experience in strategic manufacturing reviews and senior leadership reporting.

Important:

Direct aerospace manufacturing experience is mandatory. Candidates from other manufacturing industries without aerospace exposure will not be considered.
