Role & responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Overall responsibility for day-to-day finance and accounting functions.
- Ensure timely and accurate closure of monthly, quarterly and annual accounts.
- Preparation and review of Profit & Loss Account, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow and other financial statements.
- Ensure proper accounting of revenue, expenditure, receivables, payables, inventory, fixed assets and provisions.
- Establish and maintain appropriate accounting controls and processes.
- Coordinate with statutory auditors, internal auditors and other professional advisors.
- Ensure timely resolution of audit observations and implementation of recommendations.
B. MIS & Management Reporting
- Prepare monthly MIS reports and financial dashboards for senior management.
- Monitor business performance against budgets and financial targets.
- Prepare variance analysis covering revenue, margins, expenses, working capital and cash flows.
- Provide management with meaningful financial analysis to support business decisions.
- Develop project / business-unit level profitability and cost reports.
C. Working Capital & Cash Flow Management
- Monitor and manage receivables, payables, inventory and overall working capital.
- Prepare and regularly update cash-flow forecasts.
- Track customer collections and coordinate with commercial / sales teams for timely realization.
- Monitor vendor payments and optimize payment cycles.
- Identify working-capital gaps and recommend corrective measures.
- Monitor project-wise fund requirements and utilization.
D. Banking & Treasury
- Coordinate with banks and financial institutions for the company's banking requirements.
- Manage working-capital facilities, fund-based and non-fund-based limits, as applicable.
- Prepare banking information, CMA data, financial statements and other information required by lenders.
- Monitor bank guarantees, letters of credit and other banking instruments.
- Maintain regular interaction with bankers and ensure timely submission of financial / compliance information.
- Monitor interest costs, bank charges and utilization of banking facilities.
E. Taxation & Statutory Compliance
- Ensure timely compliance with GST, TDS, Income Tax, PF, ESIC and other applicable statutory requirements.
- Review GST returns, reconciliations and input-tax-credit positions.
- Monitor TDS deductions, payments and returns.
- Coordinate with tax consultants and advisors on assessments, notices and other matters.
- Ensure timely filing of statutory returns and maintenance of appropriate records.
- Identify tax exposures and ensure appropriate compliance and documentation.
F. Costing & Manufacturing Finance
- Monitor product / project costing and margins.
- Review raw-material consumption, production costs, overheads and wastages.
- Analyse cost variances and identify areas for cost optimization.
G. Internal Controls
- Strengthen internal financial controls and accounting processes.
- Establish appropriate authorization and approval mechanisms.
- Review expenditure, procurement and payment controls.
- Monitor related-party transactions and ensure proper documentation and approvals.
- Identify financial and operational risks and recommend mitigation measures.
- Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of financial records.
H. Audit & Compliance
- Coordinate with statutory auditors, internal auditors, tax consultants and other advisors.
I. Business & Management Support
- Work closely with the senior management on financial planning and business decisions.
- Provide financial inputs for new projects, investments and business opportunities.
- Evaluate financial implications of major contracts and commercial arrangements.
- Support management in budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
- Assist in developing financial models and business plans where required.
Preferred candidate profile
- Chartered Accountant (CA) mandatory.
- 45 years of post-qualification experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting, taxation, GST, financial reporting and financial controls.
Strong working knowledge of MS Excel and accounting / ERP systems
