This leader drives cost optimization, risk/compliance assurance, commercial innovation, Category Procurement Operations, and supplier performance while enabling the business to adopt the right technologies, fast and safely. The role partners closely with IT (CIO, Enterprise Architecture), Security (CISO), Legal, Finance/FP&A, Internal Audit, and Business Units to align supplier portfolios with enterprise priorities. Key Responsibilities Strategy & Governance Define and execute a 3-year software category strategy covering SaaS, on‐prem, PaaS/IaaS marketplace buys (AWS/Azure/GCP), and specialized tools (Dev, Data/AI, Collaboration, Cybersecurity, ERP, CRM, HCM, ITSM). Develop segment playbooks (e.g., Tier-1 strategic suppliers, long tail, niche/BU-specific) and sourcing waves with should‐cost models, benchmarks, and consolidation targets. Own category governance (policy design, demand management, intake-to-procure), including license hygiene, renewal discipline, and buy-vs-build assessments. Own a renewal calendar with 120–180-day lead times; standardize playbooks for top suppliers (Microsoft, Adobe, Salesforce, ServiceNow, AWS/Azure/GCP, Atlassian, CrowdStrike, etc.). Manage Category Operations (Managing requirements, timely closure of procurement requests and renewals, ensuring governance on Vendor payments and timely delivery, System GRN closures etc.). Sourcing, Leadership, Deal Excellence Requirements Lead complex RFX/RFPs, auctions, direct negotiations, and marketplace buys; design and run competitive events with clear evaluation criteria. Negotiate best-in-class commercials and legal terms (price protections, audit clauses, usage rights, indemnities, SLAs/credits, data residency, DPA, exit/transition, benchmarking/MFN). Optimize licensing models (subscription, perpetual, user-/device-based, consumption) and cloud commits (EAs, EDPs, private pricing, credits). Deliver year-on-year savings, TCO optimization, and cost avoidance; build business cases and validate benefits with Finance. Establish FinOps-aligned levers for cloud/SaaS consumption (rightsizing, reserved capacity/commitments, orphaned resources, tier/cap planning). Drive vendor consolidation and portfolio rationalization with IT and business owners. Act as trusted advisor to CIO/CISO/CTO and BU leaders; translate technical needs into commercial outcomes. Required Skillsets Strong understanding of SaaS licensing/commercial models and cloud economics (commit/discount mechanics, reserved instances/savings plans, marketplace dynamics). Working knowledge of Procurement system, preferably SAP Ariba Experience 12–16+ years total, with 8+ years focused on software/cloud category management and complex negotiations (>$50–200M annual spend coverage). Track record leading cross-functional teams and executive-level negotiations.
