Job summary

Persistent Systems is seeking an experienced GCP Platform Architect to define and govern the overall Google Cloud Platform architecture across application workloads, platform services, security, integrations, telemetry, and production deployments.

You will guide GKE-based container platforms, Cloud Run deployments, and enterprise data architectures while partnering with security teams on IAM models and data governance.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced GCP Platform Architect with 10 to 15 years of expertise in cloud architecture, platform engineering, and enterprise application modernization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for defining and governing the overall Google Cloud Platform architecture across application workloads, platform services, security, integrations, telemetry, and production deployments. This role requires deep expertise in GCP services, cloud-native architecture, identity and access management, container platforms, and enterprise governance frameworks.

What You'll Do:

• Assess the current GCP platform, landing zones, shared services, and existing application architecture landscape.
• Define target-state architecture including application, deployment, network, identity, integration, data-flow, and operational views.
• Establish platform guardrails for GCP projects, service accounts, APIs, secrets management, logging, monitoring, and data governance.
• Design scalable and secure cloud-native architectures leveraging GCP services.
• Align application architecture patterns with platform capabilities, enterprise standards, and operational constraints.
• Partner with security teams to define IAM models, role-based access controls, service account strategies, and segregation-of-duties frameworks.
• Design and guide GKE-based container platforms and Cloud Run deployment architectures.
• Define integration architectures involving APIs, event-driven systems, analytics platforms, and enterprise applications.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to design BigQuery, data analytics, and telemetry architectures.
• Lead architecture reviews, technical governance discussions, and design approval processes.
• Define non-functional requirements including scalability, resiliency, security, observability, and performance standards.
• Evaluate technical risks and provide architecture guidance for mitigation strategies.
• Review implementation approaches and ensure adherence to approved architectural standards.
• Develop architecture standards, reference patterns, documentation, and implementation guidelines.
• Support production readiness reviews and operational excellence initiatives.
• Mentor engineering teams on cloud architecture best practices and GCP adoption strategies.

Expertise You'll Bring:

• 10+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, or Enterprise Architecture.
• Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and implementing Google Cloud Platform solutions.
• Strong expertise in GCP Organization Hierarchy, Resource Management, IAM, and security architecture.
• Extensive experience with Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) for container orchestration and platform management.
• Hands-on experience designing serverless architectures using Cloud Run and related GCP services.
• Deep understanding of GCP networking including VPCs, Shared VPC, Private Service Connect, DNS, Load Balancing, and Connectivity solutions.
• Experience with BigQuery, analytics platforms, and cloud-native data architectures.
• Strong knowledge of Cloud Logging, Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Trace, and observability frameworks.
• Experience designing enterprise integration platforms and API-driven architectures.
• Knowledge of service account management, workload identity, secrets management, and least-privilege security principles.
• Experience working within regulated enterprise environments with strong governance and compliance requirements.
• Expertise in resiliency, disaster recovery, business continuity, and production change management.
• Ability to create architecture diagrams, standards, policies, blueprints, and technical roadmaps.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.
• Experience leading architecture reviews and influencing enterprise technology decisions.
• Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect Certification is highly preferred.
