Job summary

Aptiv is seeking an experienced software safety professional in Bengaluru to derive safety requirements and architectures from system concepts and interfaces. You will drive safety mechanisms, ASIL decomposition, and lead FTA/DFA plus architecture reviews while ensuring traceability to verification evidence.

• Bachelor's or Master's in a related engineering discipline (CS/EE/Instrumentation).
• 10–15 years of experience in automotive software safety.
• Experience leading customer and assessor technical reviews.

Responsibilities

• Define safety mechanisms, FDI, partitioning, diagnostic coverage and safe-state behavior.
• Lead software FTA/DFA and architecture reviews; manage assumptions and constraints.
• Ensure traceability to implementation and verification evidence.
• Coordinate with system, hardware, cybersecurity, platform and validation teams.
• Drive safety analyses and release evidence across lifecycle stages.

Job description

Key responsibilities

• Derive software safety requirements and architecture from technical safety concept and system interfaces.
• Define safety mechanisms, freedom from interference, partitioning, diagnostic coverage and safe-state behavior.
• Lead software FTA/DFA and architecture reviews; manage assumptions and constraints.
• Ensure traceability to implementation and verification evidence.
• Coordinate with system, hardware, cybersecurity, platform and validation stakeholders.

Lifecycle-stage accountabilities

• RFQ / Concept Assess item scope, ASIL context, assumptions, estimates and reuse constraints.
• Planning / Architecture Develop software safety requirements, architecture, analyses and verification strategy.
• Implementation / Integration Guide implementation, manage deviations and verify safety-mechanism integration.
• Verification / Release Close safety analyses, traceability and release evidence for software.
• Production / Operations Support anomalies, changes, field issues and safety-impact analysis.

Education

B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, or a related engineering discipline

Experience

10–15 years

Your Background

Required competencies

• Strong embedded C/C++, AUTOSAR/RTOS and ECU architecture experience.
• Practical ISO 26262 Part 6 knowledge, ASIL decomposition, safety mechanisms and software safety analysis.
• Architecture modeling, requirements engineering, verification and Automotive SPICE.
• Ability to lead customer and assessor technical reviews.

Preferred competencies

• Certified functional safety professional, model-based development, SEooC and SOTIF interface knowledge.
