Job summary

Capco is seeking a seasoned software tester in Chennai to work on testing across banking domain projects. The role requires strong manual and integration testing skills, including API, DB testing, SQL validation, and Power BI dashboard checks.

You will collaborate in an agile scrum team to design and execute test plans, validate data across ETL pipelines, and ensure end-to-end coverage from source data to final reports.

Qualifications

Minimum 5-6 years’ relevant experience in software testing in Banking domain.
Proficient in test life cycle management using HP-ALM/ALM Octane.
Manual Functional testing with various techniques on Identifying required test data or mockup data.
Strong SQL skills to validate backend data.
Experience with Power BI dashboards and data validation.

Responsibilities

Design and execute test plans for functional and non-functional requirements.
Develop test cases for complex projects and ensure coverage of database queries, Power BI reports, interfaces, and APIs.
Create quality test scenarios and collaborate with BA for validation.
Execute manual test cases and produce reports (DSR, RCA) timely.
Perform end-to-end integration testing with API calls and other apps using integration strategies.
Validate data from source to final reports and ensure data accuracy in Power BI dashboards.

Contributing Responsibilities

Strong experience in functional/manual testing/DB testing / Integration/Power BI and API testing
- Design and execute test plans for functional and non-functional requirements.
- Develop functional, non-functional, and exploratory test cases targeting Database queries, Power BI reports, Interface flows, and API calls
- Creation of good quality test scenarios for manual testing, reviewing and validating them with BA and inputting in ALM
- Execution of manual test cases, issuing reports (DSR, RCA, etc.) and sharing with the test manager on a timely manner
- Execution of end-to-end integration testing in collaboration with other applications teams using API calls, and integration strategies.
- Strong knowledge to write and execute SQL queries to validate backend data.
- Perform data validation for ETL/data pipelines like NIFI
- Validate Power BI dashboards, reports and data models. Check data accuracy, field mappings, calculations and visual formatting.
- Ensure End-to-End validation from source data to final reports.
- Test REST/SOAP APIs using tools like Postman/Swagger/Soap UI. Validate integrations between services through API layers.
- Strong analytical and quick learning skills required, to handle test cases in a rich and complex architecture with many interconnected applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, managers, subject matter experts and technical teams.
- Participate and contribute to all Agile / Scrum rituals of the squad (daily stand-up, grooming, sprint planning, retrospective meetings)
- Reporting to test lead & manager on the test activities progress and data gathering to generate metrics.
- Automation script development & maintenance, knowledge on the automation framework is an advantage.
- Contribute to analysis of defects and identification of root cause and pattern using Test management tools.

Technical & Behavioral Competencies

Mandatory (Testing Skills)

Minimum 5 - 6 years’ relevant experience in software testing in Banking domain
Experience working in scrum team * Proficient in test life cycle management using HP-ALM/ALM Octane
Manual Functional testing with various techniques on Identifying required test data or mockup required test data.
Integration testing with API calls on System Integration testing, End to End testing and API integration testing.
Identifying regression test cases from existing pool of functional test cases or create them if they are not available.
Hands-on experience in writing test cases for complex projects, test data preparation and test execution.
Hands on experience in writing performance test cases.
Good oral & written Communication skills.
A good team player with problem-solving attitude.
Analytical and precise: Capacity to challenge the team and convince based on facts.
