Job summary

Burns & McDonnell India is seeking a Technical Lead to drive architecture, engineering standards, and governance across multiple projects. The role requires hands-on full-stack work (Python/React) and deep architectural expertise to enable other Tech Leads.

You will mentor teams, establish design patterns, review critical designs, and ensure scalable, secure solutions aligned with the long-term roadmap. This is a senior, cross-team leadership placement in Mumbai, India.

Qualifications

10-12 years experience in software engineering
Proven full-stack development with Python and React
Experience leading multiple projects or mentoring Tech Leads
Strong architecture and system design background
Hands-on with Django/DRF/FastAPI/Flask and React ecosystem

Responsibilities

Define and standardize architecture patterns and design principles across projects
Review critical technical designs and ensure they are scalable and secure
Mentor and enable team-level Tech Leads; resolve complex challenges
Lead design reviews, knowledge-sharing sessions and workshops
Ensure end-to-end system design, API design, and integrations across teams

Job description

We are looking for a Technical Lead who will operate at a cross-team level, driving architecture, engineering standards, and technical governance across multiple projects. This role goes beyond a typical team-level Tech Lead and focuses on enabling other Tech Leads, ensuring consistency, and improving overall engineering maturity. The ideal candidate is a strong full-stack engineer (Python React) with deep architectural expertise and the ability to guide teams hands‑on.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Design Governance:

Define and standardize architecture patterns and design principles
Review and guide critical technical designs across teams
Ensure systems are scalable, secure, and aligned with long-term vision
Drive technology selection and standardization

Engineering Standards & Best Practices:

Coding standards
Code review practices
Testing strategies
Drive adoption of:

CI/CD Pipelines

Code quality tools (e.g., SonarQube)
DevOps best practices
Ensure consistency across all teams
Tech Lead Enablement:
Mentor and support team-level Tech Leads
Help resolve complex technical challenges

Conduct

Design reviews

Act as a technical escalation point

Full Stack Technical Leadership:

Provide Hands-on Guidance In

Backend development using Python

Required Skills & Experience

Strong full-stack development experience using Python and React
Hands‑on experience with Python backend frameworks, including:
- Django
- Django REST Framework
- FastAPI
- Flask
Strong experience in designing and developing REST APIs and third‑party system integrations
Hands‑on experience with React, including:
- Modern frontend architecture
- State management
- Component design and reusability
- Frontend performance optimization
Experience with PostgreSQL, including:
- Relational database design
- Query optimization
- Indexing and performance tuning

Deep Understanding Of

System design and distributed systems
Microservices and service‑oriented architecture
API design, authentication, and integrations
Scalable and high‑performance application architecture

Cloud & DevOps

Strong hands‑on experience with GCP is preferred; equivalent experience with Azure or AWS may be considered
