Join us as a Full Stack Developer at Barclays, where you will spearhead the evolution of our infrastructure and deployment pipelines, driving innovation and operational excellence. Required Experience and Skills

• Experience developing medium to large sized Java applications covering Core Java, multi‑threading, Spring, and Spring Boot.
• Basic knowledge of deployment with a cloud platform such as Docker, Kubernetes and AWS.
• Experience working in an Agile development methodology environment (preferably Scrum/Kanban).
• Basic experience with ReactJS/Angular/TypeScript.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Knowledge of unit testing and integration testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito, Jest, React Testing Library).
• Utilizing tools such as GitLab, VS Code, IntelliJ/Eclipse, and JIRA.
• Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills.

Some Other Highly Valued Skills May Include

• Experience with Python‑based development.
• Nice to have basic knowledge with large‑language models and agentic AI patterns – tool use, RAG, prompt engineering, memory management, and guardrails.
• Nice to have experience working in cloud environments, with hands‑on exposure to AI tools such as AWS Bedrock, Claude Code or similar.
• Understanding of API integrations, data pipelines, and event‑driven architectures.
• Nice to have experience working in cloud environments (AWS preferred) with familiarity in containerization, CI/CD, and infrastructure‑as‑code.

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

• Development and delivery of high‑quality software solutions using industry‑aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimised for performance.
• Cross‑functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
• Collaboration with peers, participation in code reviews, and promotion of a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organisation’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
• Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
• Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
