Job summary

Barclays is seeking a Java Full Stack Engineer to lead the evolution of our infrastructure and deployment pipelines from Pune. You will build robust, scalable, and secure software, combining Java back-end with React-based front-ends to deliver digital solutions.

You will work across the stack using Java 8, Spring Boot, JPA/Hibernate, React/TypeScript, and modern JS tooling. Expect collaboration with cross-functional teams and a strong emphasis on code quality and secure coding.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on experience with Java 8 and Spring Boot.
• Experience with JPA/Hibernate and Spring Data.
• Relational databases such as MS SQL or Oracle.
• Extensive front-end experience with React, Redux, and TypeScript.
• Strong JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design.
• Experience with React Router, Hooks, Context API and state management.
• Knowledge of UI testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress).
• Experience with Git/SVN and collaborative workflows.

To be successful as a Java Full Stack Engineer, you should have experience with:

• Java – Should have extensive and hands‑on experience working with Java 8.
• Spring Boot – Should have extensive and hands‑on experience working with Spring Boot.
• Should have extensive experience working with JPA, Hibernate, Spring Data etc.
• Experience of Relational database (MS SQL/Oracle).
• Extensive hands‑on experience with React, React Native, Redux, and TypeScript for building scalable, maintainable user interfaces.
• Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design principles.
• Experience with React ecosystem tools including React Router, React Hooks, Context API, and state management patterns.
• Knowledge of UI testing frameworks such as Jest, React Testing Library, or Cypress.
• Experience with Version Control Software (Git, Stash/SVN) and collaborative development workflows.
• Familiarity with API integration and asynchronous data handling in React applications.

• Experience in analytical debugging and performance optimization.

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

• Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
• Cross‑functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
• Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organisation’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
• Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
• Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
