Job description

As a Senior Software Development Engineer (SDE 3) – Frontend, you will lead the design, architecture, and development of highly scalable, performant, and user‑centric web applications. You will be responsible for driving frontend engineering excellence, defining technical standards, mentoring engineers, and collaborating closely with Product, Design, and Backend teams to deliver exceptional user experiences.

This role requires a strong blend of hands‑on technical expertise, architectural thinking, and leadership capabilities. You will play a key role in shaping the frontend roadmap, improving developer productivity, and ensuring the delivery of high‑quality software at scale.

Key Responsibilities-

Frontend Architecture & Development

• Lead the design and development of complex frontend applications using modern frameworks such as React and Next.js.
• Define and evolve frontend architecture, coding standards, design patterns, and best practices.
• Build scalable, maintainable, and reusable UI components and frontend platforms.
• Drive adoption of modern frontend technologies and engineering practices.

User Experience & Product Collaboration

• Partner closely with Product Managers, Designers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into intuitive user experiences.
• Collaborate with UX teams to ensure accessibility, usability, and responsive design across devices and platforms.
• Champion customer‑centric design and frontend quality standards.

Performance & Scalability

• Own frontend performance initiatives including Core Web Vitals, page load optimization, rendering efficiency, and bundle optimization.
• Identify bottlenecks and implement strategies to improve responsiveness, scalability, and reliability.

Technical Leadership

• Provide technical direction and mentorship to frontend engineers.
• Conduct design reviews, architecture discussions, and code reviews to maintain engineering excellence.
• Drive engineering best practices around testing, observability, maintainability, and security.
• Contribute to technical decision‑making and long‑term platform strategy.

State Management & Frontend Engineering

• Design and implement scalable state management solutions using Redux, Context API, RTK, Zustand, or similar technologies.
• Develop robust frontend architectures capable of supporting large‑scale applications.
• Ensure efficient data handling, caching, and API integration patterns.

Quality & Testing

• Advocate and implement strong testing practices including unit, integration, and end‑to‑end testing.
• Ensure high code quality through automated testing, CI/CD integration, and peer reviews.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues.
• Work closely with Backend, QA, DevOps, and Product teams to deliver end‑to‑end product capabilities.
• Participate in sprint planning, technical estimation, and roadmap discussions.
• Drive timely delivery while balancing technical excellence and business priorities.

Candidate Requirements

Experience

• 6+ years of software development experience with at least 5+ years focused on frontend engineering.
• Proven experience leading the development of large‑scale web applications.
• Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction across teams.

Frontend Expertise

• Strong proficiency in React and modern frontend ecosystems.
• Hands‑on experience with Next.js and Server‑Side Rendering (SSR) concepts.
• Strong understanding of component‑driven development and frontend architecture patterns.

State Management

• Extensive experience with Redux, Redux Toolkit, Zustand, Context API, or similar state management solutions.
• Strong understanding of client‑side data management, caching, and asynchronous workflows.

Performance & Optimization

• Experience optimizing web application performance, bundle size, rendering efficiency, and Core Web Vitals.

Testing & Quality

• Experience with frontend testing frameworks such as Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, or Playwright.
• Strong understanding of automated testing strategies and quality engineering practices.

System Design

• Ability to design scalable frontend architectures and make sound technical trade‑offs.
• Familiarity with distributed systems concepts and API‑driven application development.
• Strong experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and frontend deployment strategies.
• Experience working with Docker‑based development environments is a plus.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to drive technical discussions, align cross‑functional teams, and influence engineering decisions.
• Strong ownership mindset and ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building and maintaining Design Systems or Component Libraries.
• Experience with Micro Frontends and frontend platform engineering.
• Experience with accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices.
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog, Sentry, New Relic, or similar.
• Exposure to cloud‑native environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Experience leading frontend teams or acting as a frontend technical lead.
• Contributions to open‑source projects, engineering blogs, or technical communities are a plus.
